Social Media off now and won't be on again today. The reward will be more focus elsewhere :-)

Yes, I do know there is a subject called philosophy.

I perceive it as more useful in younger years in education than older. I recognise that I cannot pin-point exactly why this is other than it "feels" right/wrong and some examples based on my experience. Not very scientific tho.

of teachers can do it well, and it is effective for them, let them work away, so be it. I was excited recently when I heard of effective group work in my son's class from another parent. When I asked my son "they copy my work".

It's probably difficult to be supportive of it, particularly in post-primary, if you have never witnessed anyone do it effectively. I've had it in school and through uni, never useful except knowing the grafters pick up the pieces. If the moral of the story is a minority 1/

I'm not sure anything she says is worth listening to. She is prepared to use someone's dead husband as a means to attack them.

Wolves fan has made the trip to Newcastle for the game today via a night in Benidorm because it was cheaper than getting the train... great idea!! 👏🏼

Amazing that people are content with the fact a person's dead husband is used as a way of attacking her. What sort of individuals are you?

Read this and use it as an opportunity for reflection. If you are using someone's dead husband to attack them, it's time to take a step back and re-evaluate your life.

What a scumbag thing to do. You are using someone's dead husband to attack them? Sickening.

That's great, and I know what you mean. I don't think, though, that you could look at that outside of teaching as to whether you are "trad" or "progressive" in those matters. In order to examine whether it's domain specific, you need to understand what you mean by the terms imo

It seems to me you hold on to what you perceive to be the best of the "old" whilst incorporating what you believe to be evidence led in the "new". That sounds conservative rather than "trad". That's why I asked about definitions.

But if you found a new structure which worked best for the pupils, you'd change. I talk to a lot of people about education (traditional or progressive) and none talk about research as much (if ever) as the teaching community do on twitter. 1/

discovery learning etc., are all "how" (ps the language of "inclusion" is unfairly loaded against those of you who are trads, imo), but you need to know what the core driving force is to examine each way of working.

It's open to the world. Probably back to Rufus as he raised the Q, but not sure how anyone could analyze it without having a definition of both in their mind. For example, you have provided the outworkings of "progressive", the "how". Mind gyms, inclusion, group work 1/

Personally, I couldn't attempt to understand the discussion without having the definition of the two words used to know exactly what position is being put forward.
