What is Azure Stack?
Microsoft Azure Stack is a new hybrid cloud platform product that enables you to deliver Azure services from your own datacenter.

Deliver Azure services to your datacenter
Transform on-premises datacenter resources into cloud services for maximum agility. Run Azure IaaS services—including Virtual Machines, Blob/Table storage, and Docker-integrated Linux containers—for applications like SQL Server or SharePoint. Empower developers to write cloud-first applications using on-premises deployments of Azure PaaS services such as App Service. Make your application counterparts productive by enabling the same self-service experience as Azure.
Experience unified app development
Build and deploy your application the same way whether it runs on Azure or Azure Stack. Use Azure Resource Manager to build reusable application templates for both traditional and cloud-native apps. Use role-based access control in Azure Resource Manager and Azure Active Directory to enable fine-grained access to application resources. Write to the same Azure APIs. Use the same Azure SDK. With Active Directory Federation Services supported, you can authenticate your apps to Azure Active Directory or your on-premises Active Directory. Continue to use Visual Studio as your development canvas. Or use PowerShell to deploy if that’s what you prefer. Just like Azure, you get a broad choice of open source technologies including Linux, Java, Node.js, and PHP.

Jump-start your Azure Stack efforts with the rich Azure ecosystem. Select applications and components from the Azure Marketplace and publish them to Azure Stack. This can include Azure Resource Manager templates, Windows Server/Linux OS images, or even open-source application frameworks and platforms such as LAMP. Use GitHub to store and share templates in the Azure Stack gallery.
