Sonoco has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross to aid in flood relief efforts in the Pee Dee and across the Palmetto State. Sonoco has been headquartered in Hartsville, S.C., since its inception in 1899, and more than 2,000 of its employees currently call South Carolina home. Sonoco’s operations were not adversely impacted by the storm, but many of its employees, their families and their friends are facing hardships after the historic flooding.

Starbucks Roasting Plant and Distribution Center earns Gold Sustainability Star Award

Sonoco acknowledged Starbucks' Carson Valley Roasting Plant and Distribution Center with a Gold Sustainability Star Award. The Starbucks Carson Valley Roasting Plant and Distribution Center was recognized for its outstanding efforts in recycling, achieving zero waste to landfill. The plant was further credited for the procedures in place to reduce manufacturing waste beyond this – particularly noting the Waste to Energy program that ensures any remaining waste streams that cannot be recycled are repurposed for energy recovery.
