OUR MISSION
Gallup has added the voice of America's youth to the dialogue around how to ensure a positive future for America's students. The Gallup Student Poll, with nearly 4 million total completes to date, is designed to aid educators in providing a more focused education -- one that builds engagement, creates hope for the future, fosters talent and prepares students to participate meaningfully in our nation's economy by finding or creating a good job.
The 24 core items on the Gallup Student Poll measure and provide actionable data on four dimensions of student success:
- Engagement - the involvement in and enthusiasm for school
- Hope - the ideas and energy students have for the future
- Entrepreneurial Aspiration - the talent and energy necessary to build businesses that survive, thrive and employ others
- Financial/Career Literacy - the information, attitudes and behaviors that students need for healthy participation in the economy
ABOUT THE GALLUP STUDENT POLL
The Web-based survey is administered in the fall of each school year and supplies teachers, administrators, and community leaders with actionable and malleable data. The Gallup Student Poll takes between 10-15 minutes for most students to complete. U.S. schools may participate at no cost.
The survey dates for fall 2017 are
September 25 - October 27.
The survey is available Mondays - Fridays during the field period from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central Time.
The Gallup Student Poll has been improved to better serve students and to allow educators to more readily drive student success. With changes that increase the instrument's actionability, including new survey items with streamlined scales and reporting - the Gallup Student Poll not only maintains its strong foundation of measuring engagement with school, it has evolved to make student success planning more efficient and focused for schools.
All data collected by the Gallup Student Poll is stored, aggregated, and analyzed by Gallup. Data are reported by school and by district and are accessible via an online scorecard. Under no circumstances will Gallup reveal a student's individual item responses to anyone.
