thanks! Shipping 20lb from etsy through a third party freight forwarder to singapore is prohibitively extensive, though. I'm considering using tiny smooth pebbles from my local garden store instead. I can find some that are about 1/4" size. Do you think those might work? Or would they be too noisy? Or too hard?

Thanks for the link! My local sellers listed the same stuff at $50 per pound! Still, shipping 20 lbs of anything to Singapore will cost me over $50. Sigh.

Thanks, irunamuk! Yes I am an architect and I did design my own house. baby-proofing it has been a struggle between my dad-side and my design-side! But always safety first. Will post more Instructables soon. I'm working on a couple more things around the house.

True. I used the remaining acrylic to protect my hardwood coffee table, and within minutes then kid had scratched it up with his cars. Eek.Strangely, though, my kid has been 100% aware of the solidity of this transparent gate from the first time he saw it in place. He's just 16 months, and he walked up to the gate and just stopped in front of it to call for mama who was on the other side. No pushing or shoving it, nothing!

This is brilliant! Do you have any close-up shots of some cut pieces? I'm wondering how smooth a cut it can achieve. Also gonna get my baby to hurry up and grow so that I can build this for him... :)
