(replying myself) It stacks along nicely :-)
monit is OK to mess with services on localhost, zabbix is fine with monitoring larger quantity of hosts and parameters.

monit comparison?
Regarding local monitoring, how does it stack up against monit (http://freshmeat.net/projects/monit/)?

user comment on ZABBIX
Excellent _product_:
. easy to install and configurue
. easy to custom
. easy to use
. very good functional level (multiple maps, availability, trigger/alerts dependancies, SLA calculation)
. use very few ressources
I've been using ZABBIX to monitor about 500 éléments (servers, routers, switches...) in a heterogenous environment (windows, unices, snmp-aware equipements).
An excellent alternative to Nagios and MoM+Minautore.

Hi,

> Key=.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.1
Put .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2.1 to the OID. Key should be unique string, for example, 'procload'.
Please use Sourceforge's capabilities for any feedback. Thanks.
