Supported Operating Systems

  • Mac - OS X 10.11 or greater
  • Windows - Windows 7 or greater (with Internet Explorer 11 or greater and .NET 4.6 or greater)

Supported IDEs

  • Xamarin Studio 6.1
  • Visual Studio 2015 with Xamarin 4.2.x

Live app inspection is available for enterprise customers.

Supported App Platforms

App Platform IDE Support Notes
Mac (Unified) Only supported in XS on Mac
iOS (Unified) Supported in XS and VS Inspecting iOS apps from Windows requires Inspector to also be installed on the Mac build host.
Android Supported in XS and VS
  • Must target Android >= 4.0.3
  • Must have fastdev enabled
  • Must use Google, VS, or Xamarin Android emulators
WPF Only supported in VS on Windows

Download and Installation

  1. Close any open IDE.
  2. Download and install the Xamarin Workbooks & Inspector for Mac (or download for Windows).
  3. Inspect your own app!

Xamarin Workbook

If it's not already installed, install the Xamarin Workbooks app first. The workbook file should download automatically, but if it doesn't, just click to start the workbook download manually.
