Darius Slay makes a huge play as Detroit steps closer to first division title since 1993

The Detroit Lions don’t have a ton of great memories on Thanksgiving, especially in recent years … or recent decades. Slay had an enormous interception off Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford with 30 seconds left in a tie game and returned it to Minnesota’s 20-yard line, setting up Matt Prater’s game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired. The 16-13 win puts the 7-4 Lions in sole possession of first place in the NFC North, clinches the head-to-head tiebreaker over the 6-5 Vikings and puts Detroit in position to win its first division title since 1993, when the NFC North was the NFC Central.

3 Olympic gold medals stripped in latest IOC doping retests

Three Olympic gold medals and one silver medal were stripped on Friday from athletes caught in the latest round of positive doping retests from the 2008 and 2012 Summer Games. Seven athletes from Belarus, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan were retroactively disqualified after testing positive for steroids in a reanalysis of their stored doping samples, the International Olympic Committee said. The IOC, which stores samples for 10 years, reanalyzed more than 1,000 samples from the 2008 Beijing Games and 2012 London Olympics with improved techniques that can detect the use of steroids going back weeks and months, rather than days.

Players and coaches are well aware of Manon Rheaume's contribution to women's hockey. CFL shuts down Pizza Pizza promotion shut down offering cheap Grey Cup tickets

A Pizza Pizza promotion offering Grey Cup tickets for a bargain price has been shut down by the CFL. The walk-in special at 16 Hamilton-area Pizza Pizza outlets offered a pair of tickets as part of a $29.99 package that also included a large three-topping pizza, 10 chicken wings, four cans of pop and two dipping sauces. The fact that Sunday's CFL championship game at Toronto's BMO Field has not yet sold out has been a talking point, and the optics of the Pizza Pizza special didn't help the city's reputation as lukewarm toward Canada's professional football league.
