Girls both eat hush puppies and gator tail and Elise loves it! Next round is soft shelled crab, catfish bites and boiled shrimp. Holy smokes, I'm in Heaven ... the sweet tea and home made Sangria are to die for!

I had lunch with some of my old Southern Bell buddies from Hayden Rd in North Jacksonville. We worked together back in the '70s. It is Mabry Randall, Nick Burger, Jim Simmons, Jack Dixon, Ronnie Kline, John Sturman and Duane Retzer. Great memories of Time Gone By. It was a different, better World.

This was our first visit to Whiteys. The food was great, but the service was far from it. Our waitress only came once to refill our drinks, and after our food was brought out by someone else, she never came to see if we needed anything. I had to ask another waitress to find her because we needed refills, silverware, and condiments. Then, she didn't even come out, but sent yet another waitress to get what we needed. We also weren't the only customers in her section that had to track down another waitress to get something. The people behind us did as well. It was not remotely busy inside or out, where we were sitting, so it was disappointing to not have even decent service, especially driving from near the airport to OP to try somewhere new.

I've been going to Whitey's for over 22 years. I loved the place from the first visit. I've enjoyed watching it grow from a small restaurant/fish camp with out a tiki bar to the large tiki bar restaurant that it has become. Last night my wife and I received a $50.00 tab in the tiki bar. When I questioned the waitress about the $6.00 glass of wine when we ordered the Thursday night $2.00 house wine she told me she did not serve us the house wine. The tab also had $3.00 Bud Li…ghts, we ordered the $2.00 Bud Light. She reluctantly took the bill to correct the overcharge. The second tab was $46.00 and she apologized for making a mistake, she was new. My math skills are limited but 5 $2.00 beers and 3 $2.00 wines should have been $16.00, the beer and wine alone came to $33.00. After talking with the Manager 2 different times it was easy to see why the waitress was having a hard time, he must have trained her. I hate that it happened but Whitey's lost a 22 year customer last night.

We had a wonderful time! Our waitress, Blanche, was such a sweetheart. She even helped my 22 month old son learn the difference between dugongs and manatees. The food was delicious. Some of the best fish & chips I've had. On the way out, a nice gentleman in the bait shop showed my son all the crickets and bait fish. He was just tickled to pieces! Lol!

I used to love this place. I just drove over an hr to eat. I waited over an hr and a half for an appetizer when my sister n family got there app and food. The manager was called over I told Margaret the situation. She then asked me for 20 mins how's everything. Well I don't no. I still don't have food or appetizers kids telling me there hungry while my sisters family is waitin to eat there food which is now cold. I then told the waiter I want someone higher. He comes to the t…able like I owe him. I tell him the situation and he said well the food is now ready. Yeah I got here at 7 it's now 917 and it's ready. When I ask for the bill for the drinks it's ready? But before my appetizer? This service has gone down hill drastically. I will never come here again. Coming from someone who used to come at least 2x a month with 6 to 10 people. No I'm good I'll go elsewhere.

Service sucks, foods good if you can get someone to wait on you, went in for lunch and took over 2 hours, strike one, went back a month later to give them another shot so as we were waiting to be seated the staff seated everyone who came in after us and after 20 minutes we left and there wasn't but a dozen people there, strike two, not worth a third time found better places with better staff and food
