Wapuu ได้เกิดขึ้นเมื่อปี 2009 ที่งาน WordCamp Tokyo after-party โดยอยากจะหาวิธีโปรโมทงาน WordCamp ในญี่ปุ่น จึงทำให้ Wapuu เกิดขึ้นมาและหลังจากนั้นทุกงาน WordCamp ทั่วโลกก็จะต้องมี Wapuu เป็นมาสคอตของงาน

Wapuu สุดพิเศษสำหรับงาน WordCamp Bangkok ปีนี้จึงนำเสนอ “ม้าก้านกล้วย” เป็น 1 ในการละเล่นของไทยอย่างหนึ่ง ซึ่งหาดูได้ยากในยุคปัจจุบัน เพื่อเป็นการอนุรักษ์ไม่ให้การละเล่นไทยสูญหายไป
