App Permissions Description:
• Storage: TripAdvisor uses Google Maps, which uses external/USB storage for caching downloaded map information.
• Your location: These permissions are needed to obtain your location so we can help you discover hotels, restaurants, and attractions around you. Network-based location gets a quick location, but is not usually pinpoint accurate. GPS is a bit slower to initially locate you, but is usually more accurate.
• Camera: The TripAdvisor phone app allows you to take a picture using your Android device camera directly.
• Network communication: Allows the app to transmit information to and from your phone via the Internet.
• Your accounts: We are using the Android Application Account Manager to store your credentials in a TripAdvisor account (you can find it in Settings under the Accounts tab). If you remove the app we also remove the TripAdvisor account on the device.
• System tools: This location provider permission provides more detailed location information so that TripAdvisor can pick the best possible location source for your current situation. The “test access” permission allows Android to check if it can use your external/USB storage for caching map information.

Says "Themes on devices running Cyanogen OS are known to cause crashes with embedded Google Maps. Maps on TripAdvisor will be disabled on this device". I can not see restaurants on map, that's why application became almost useless. Yes, it has ability to filter by location, but filter options are not granular enough. Why not just give users option to try out maps on their device?!

Kind of Creepy... This app is great for helping people out with travel and finding good spots to go to, but it is kind of creepy. I get that they want to use location services, but it sends me notifications about nearly every place I go to. For example, I was at a restaurant and I looked at my phone and TripAdvisor had said "Don't know what to get here? Try this!" It was kind of creepy. Other than that, it is an okay app.

AMAZING Staff -> layout -> clean The front desk team is extremely equipped to get the job done! I did need to be referred to management to make a room adjustment due to special circumstances. When I spoke with management it was another pleasant experience. It's reassuring to be able to rely on not just a clean water park, but also amazing staff! My family and friends love, love, love this place - what a pleasant experience!!!!

You can only post a review Once u r done posting your review and the other party responds to it.. you have no option to revert. So if the other party has written a lie and posted it's still ok. The hotel or service provider has the last say in the review. So the reviewer kind of loses it. There should be an option for the traveller to respond to the comment posted by the hotel on his review.

Still fail to download cities offline... This application stores the downloaded cities - for off line use - into the main phone memory, which is utterly stupid. Instead of storing them on the SD card, where the storage is unlimited, the development team "forgot" this simple fact. Maps, text reviews and images are pure data, they can be perfectly stored on an external SD card without problem. The Wikiloc application - for instance - is doing that perfectly. Tried to download a city for offline use. London, both with or without photos, same issue

Tablet App I have used trip advisor on my mobile for ages and love it. I recently downloaded the tablet version and it's rubbish. I can't view my saved trips or favourite any places. The whole app is nowhere near as user friendly as its mobile counterpart. Was looking forward to using TripAdvisor on a bigger screen but will probably delete it and stick to the mobile version.

Country Pub with Cafe Quality Food I was thrilled to discover places like this still exist! The staff were incredibly welcoming. The food was of excellent quality and of generous size. I like this place so much that I drive an extra three hours just so I can stop here rather than some crummy roadhouse. They also offer well priced motel style accommodation and have free unlimited camping with showers out the back. There is also a basic caravan that you can rent overnight for next to nothing if you can't be bothered to pitch a tent. :-)
Ask for a rating and get 1 star... I already rate every app I use, you begging me for a rating just reminds me to give you one star again. Will continue to do so until you change these two things. No update log under "What's New" means no rating from me. What did you change? We understand you are improving reliability and performance, but what are you doing? Once again. X8
Why can't I see my saves on Android device? App on Android tablet is useless. Don't bother until they sort it out. This used to be a great tool, so useful and great to refer back to for ideas and inspiration. However, I can no longer see my saves, or save locations through my android device. Seems to work on IOS though. What's going on?
Map functionality disabled Since the last update, I can no longer start Google Maps from within the app, as my phone runs CyanogenOS and Tripadvisor thinks it will be unstable. It worked fine before, so I would prefer to have an option to re-enable it at my own risk. Instead I now have to open Google Maps manually and search for what I was already looking at. Stupid.
Its not the app i hate Its that there's no checks on who likes what.... for instance a guy on my FB friends list recently rated his own business as 5 star on trip adviser! Come on trip adviser! You got much work to do before i follow your ratings in future!
Was great I used this app all the time in the summer because we travel alot for my sons baseball team. I'm trying to use it now and it sucks! Not sure if it's the update or what but it's not finding anything I search for (ex hotels). Once I searched for hotels in Indiana and it took me to Greece! I have restarted the app several times.
I live by this app when traveling This app has saved me headaches and money so many times I can't even count them. From driving cross country with pets and finding awesome hotels, to sightseeing in Brazil and Germany, I trust the reviews on tripadvisor more than any other website or app. Two enthusiastic thumbs up, and happy travels!
Always use this app I always use this app to make decisions on what/where to eat, where to stay, what to see. I have found the reviews to be honest and so very helpful when making plans. For the most part if we eat, stay or visit a place without checking TripAdvisor I end up kicking myself afterwards especially if we had a bad experience.
Really hate it Complicated payment procedure. At the end cause me to lost my booking on the day i need it. I call the CSO. They are very impatient impolite and not giving any solution. I thought this app will be better than other at the end it sucks.. really made me mad at the hotel. I am in indonesia.
Spam emails and lost map function Way too much email. Also why disable maps on all cyanogenmod devices. I have never had any problems with them. Makes this app far harder to use. Does not help that you cannot copy the address to external map application.
Very Disappointed on restaurant with high rating Searched and read many reviews on this restaurant called Em On Thai ranked #17 out of nearly 800 restaurants in Naples- foods are the worst i have ever eaten in my 35 years of eating out...lead me to think rating is Totally rigged. Now i have very little confidence in the ratings from this site
Has it's good points Useful and intuitive, one concern is that the pricing for reservations seems excessive comparatively to other providers, shouldn't members of this network pay less since they are providing feedback to managers for free and available for hotel staff to use at their leisure? Perhaps the network isn't useful to the hoteliers for data collection and aggregating?
Seems buggy on Nexus 6p Seems buggy and poorly written. I love tripadvisor as a services, but often end up using the website, even on mobile. User interface is clunky, and time consuming. Often unable to select "Type of visit" and "Date visited" when leaving a review. Often unable to uploaf photos... App Needs a little work.
Good apps but it need to edit the comment area When I want to comment on a restaurant or upload a picture it always ask me to write 100 letters in minimum and it's required. if we can upload only pictures with no comments or letters that I want it would be perfect! thanks a lot
Less useful than just using the web site The app works but it is actually less useful than just using the web site. There is no way to save attractions to your trip and no way to share attractions with travelling partners. The description says you can save your trip to your phone for offline viewing but I can find no way of doing this. Perhaps the description is for the iOS app which is completely different and more functional.
Lousy app does disservice to great website I love the website, which is my first point of reference before a trip. On the app, however, I could not use any of the member-specific functionality, like accessing: my own reviews, my own messages, my own forum posts and replies to them. As an app it becomes simply a generic source of destination information, but doesn't deliver personalised functionality....At least not that I could divine.
Not any more real TA looks commercially paid by their advertisers, higher price and fake mostly wrong reviews for stays (personal experience), doesn't seems to b real now, don't have old feelings, no difference between TA and MMT now
STOP REQUIRING THE APP!!! Nooooo I will never give access to my location...STOP ASKING!!! You can no longer use the website beyond three reviews unless you use the app. Forcing use of an app that provides no benefits above the website and takes up phone space is just horrible. Looking for an alternative to TripAdvisor.
No longer able to search for the location stared I don't know what's going on with this app, but when I ask for hotels in London England I don't expect to have hotels come up that are in Biloxi USA! I want hotels just 5 miles away, not several thousand. Dreadful app, totally useless.
Travel info in your pocket Easy to use application. Very useful especially when visiting a place for the very first time. The information is based on people's experiences and not on the advertising brochure prepared by some marketing department. The booking feature makes it more handy. It allows you to book instantly after reading the review.
Very Helpful App Very informative plus provides useful tips. I refer to it before all my travels. Still haven't figured out why some reviews don't get uploaded. Once a review is submitted but not published, a member should be allowed to edit it. You only give the option of cancelling it!
My go to I use TripAdvisor for everything. You can say I'm pretty addicted. It's very easy to use and I love that I can save all my favorite places, activities, restaurants, or hotels/vacation rentals. You can look up any town you are passing through and they will have information about it with a ton of reviews so you can see other's perspective on things before you decide to do it. I highly recommend TripAdvisor to everyone who travels a lot.
Can't be modify reviews I accidentally did a review of a restaurant that had the same title but in a different state. I tried to delele the post but realozed i wad locked out afyer posting. Once you post reviews, they get locked for good. Apps lie Yelp allows you to modify your reviews. But not this app u fortunately.
Frustrating App Every time I try to see the complaints about a place to try to figure out whether people's issues are petty, trite, whingy, silly things, or serious issues like safety, cleanliness, or illness due to poor quality goods and services, TripAdvisor mostly refuses to simply show me the negative results. I'm getting sick of trying to fiddle with the App, and I am looking for something better to help me judge whether I might like to try a hotel, restaurant, resort, or attraction.
Confused I do like TripAdvisor, but at the moment when I look for hotels in many of the searched towns, I am getting results for towns in other countries. A further search in the same town will give you results in yet another place somewhere else in the world. Very frustrating - this needs to be sorted out.
Junction pub cottonwood. Went here for Xmas dinner very dissapointed. Food was well below standard cost104. 00 would not have paid a tenner for it. Took 3hrs for 3 course booked for 4courses didn't hang around for that one. Won't ever go back there again.
Very Trustworthy Because it encourages people to review so often you get a fairly accurate overall view of businesses and places and not skewed towards their bad attributes. If I'm unsure of an activity I usually find myself checking it on Trip Advisor. Great work
Wonderful place to stay!! Navarre Campground is the cleanest and friendliest campground we have ever stayed!! No matter what time you go in the heated, updated bathrooms, they are always well stocked and clean. The cabins are adorable and roomy, each with a different theme.
Best Guide I have been using this app since 4 years ans find it helpfull in all cities to have a quick guide. We can use this app in our city also becoz many times we r not aware of things around us
It's my travel bible I can't say enough good about this app. It's super easy to use and I don't know how I ever traveled before TripAdvisor. It has saved me so much time and money over the years. I can see real candid reviews and pictures from actual travelers. It's invaluable.
Doesn't work!!! Nice layout and good display of their menu.. but.............. When it's time to check out! It gives you a total! But it doesn't let you do final check out,! And no confirmation email , you can't enter your gift card information it doesn't go through... I just decided to delete the App.
Great Mobile app but needs modification The online version has payback points linked to the review but the app is missing the feature. As its not possible to login to the website and write a review on the go, it would be great if the app can be modified to have similar features to ensure that the reviewer do not miss any benefits or features at any point of time. I would be happy to rate this app 5/5 if it gives me the complete features like the website version.
Poor service and food When we arrived there was only one table being served. However somehow we were served half of our order with the other half nowhere to be seen. It does not take that long to make placki! We are still sitting and waiting, either for our order or our bill, wonder which will come first? Over an hour later, the waitresses have served other tables but not ours. Poor service. Food cannot be praised either. Cold and greasy. Salad in the salad bar not fresh.
Love the app and the pin map! I'm a fan and now addicted to writing reviews or saving the places I have visited. I travel a lot for work so I also find the app super helpful as it links with your location to show options and reviews for informed decisions. Love it!
