Azure Backup port requirements

Hi,

I have been quite successful in migrating several clients and theor various server/workstation config to backup daily to Azure Backup Services. With one exception.

This client has posed challenges for me in the past. Back in the days when he was running SBS2003. The scenario is that he rents office space within another organization. Included in this arrangement is Internet access. I do not hold sway, nor provide support to the other entity.

To keep the two networks separated I have placed a router on the hosts LAN and have my clients operate on a completely different subnet. Thus far, for the most part, this has worked.

My challenge is getting Azure Backup to function. Bear in mind I do not have access to the Intenet facing router. I have managed to setup an account on Azure, and have managed to installed the backup client, select exclusions etc. But that's where my progress ends.

The portal acknowledges a client has been installed, but no data has ever been uploaded to the servers.

Other online backup services, such as Attix5, KeepItSafe etc. all function correctly, just Azure doesn't.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Paul

U.S. Map state color decided by cell information

Hey all,

I'm looking to create a map of the U.S. that depicts each state with a certain color based on a selection from a drop down list. I'm able to get the map to stick to the colors of a custom theme but I'd like the map to give states a color based on the cell information in the list. This would allow me to assign many colors and not just limit me to theme colors.

For example, if my drop down list has 8 selections and each item is assigned a color, can I make the map assign each state a color based on the selection?

How would I go about doing this? I hope I explained it well enough, I'd be glad to give more info if needed.

Best,

JJ

As more and more organizations opt for hybrid cloud solutions, many are faced with some of the challenges that emerge when managing across multiple networks and servers. According to the State of the Hybrid Cloud report, 53% of respondents indicated that the most important challenge of a hybrid cloud was a more complex environment.

How can you see a unified view of your organization’s IT?

How can you balance the necessary security and control alongside the agility that business units within your organization may require?

There are resources to help you better see IT environments across your organization. Microsoft’s Operations Management Suite (OMS) helps address some of the challenges that hybrid clouds create regarding visibility and control over more complex infrastructures. From log analytics, allowing you to gain data insights across workloads, to Network Performance Monitors, which help you identify and resolve connectivity issues, OMS helps you view your hybrid cloud differently.

For a deeper dive on what OMS can provide, check out Srinivasan Chandrasekar’s post on the Microsoft India Development Center blog or the Microsoft OMS website.

I'm trying to redirect my custom domain name to go directly to one of my specific sways - but I get an error from the browser saying something about an iframe "This content cannot be displayed in a frame".

Is there a setting I need to change to make this work? or will I need to embed the sway into an html file that is set as a default site document.

Thanks!

Migrating User Profile Metadata Fields (SPS-AboutMe)

Hello fellow SharePoints.

Has anyone had any experiencing migrating User Profile data from SharePoint 2013 to 2016? Specifically the SPS fields like about me, skills, interests, etc?

I have built a brand new 2016 farm and have UPS configured with MIM 2016. I have custom attributes populating custom user properties in the new environment.

However, i haven't figured out a way to bring over the metadata fields that users fill out on their own. I know i am supposed to db attach those, but how do i sync the metadata fields with the correct users?

Any help would be greatly appreciated:

Fernandom

sharepointdojo sensei.

Modern attachments just got better

Look at all the new options we have to configure the permissions: company-wide links, guest links, direct links.

The Permissions options are now updated to account for the External sharing settings in the organization. So you can for example disable Guest links, and the "anyone" checkboxes will disappear. Also, the default permissions stamped on the attachment will also respect the settings configured in SPO.

How Microsoft EMS can support you in your journey to EU GDPR compliance – Part 1

Many of you have asked when you’ll be able to use Conditional Access policies with Microsoft Teams and the Azure Portal. Support for both services is now available.

Till now, the only way to secure access to Azure portal was to require Multi-Factor Authentication all the time for an administrative account. This addressed the security need but came in the way of productivity. With this announcement, customers can require Multi-Factor Authentication only for access to Azure portal. Leveraging the power of Conditional Access, customers can allow access to Azure portal only under certain conditions (sign-in risk, location, device) and from trusted devices.

Read about it on the Enterprise Mobility and Security Blog.

ADFS - Windows Server 2016 - CNG key support?

Did ADFS 2016 add support for SSL certificates with CNG keys?

For Windows Server 2012R2 the answer was clear: No

For ADFS 2016 nothing is mentioned on the documentation (WS2012R2 docuemtation was way better)

If not, whats the best approach to get a SSL certificate / CSR with a signature algorithm other than sha1. Since browser will soon stop trusting them the SSL cert should have sha256+

Creating a CSR with legacy keys in IIS or Certificate MMC creates the CSR with sha1.... only with CNG keys you can choose sha256+

Excel Slicer Not Activating

I'm running Microsoft Excel for Mac version 15.33. I have a worksheet open and the Insert tab selected. Whether I select one cell, all cells, no cells, or just the cells in the row containing the column headers, the Slicer tool does not activate. I can't select the Slicer tool.

Does anyone have a similar experience with the tool, or am I missing a step?

Thanks.
