Stents are simple but vital medical devices: small tubes used to prop open a patient’s airway or blood vessel. Each stent design is rigorously tested, something usually done by a device that's essentially a dumb clamp; now, a Harvard physician has devised a Raspberry Pi-based stent-testing robot that uses machine vision to monitor performance under repeated stress.
