Senior Data Scientist, Machine Learning
GitHub has over 10 million users and 30 million monthly site visitors who generate an abundance of data. The Data Science group at GitHub uses this data to build better experiences inside our products and to measure the impact of work across the company. We're looking for excellent data scientists to join a dynamic and distributed group of machine learning engineers.
The Machine Learning team is responsible for building models and APIs at scale for understanding code and the people who develop code. As a member of this team you will build and maintain the data sets and APIs that engineers inside and outside the company build features on. You will collaborate with Application Engineering and Product leadership to get data products into our user's hands. You and your fellow team members will be responsible for helping the company achieve some of its key strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Writing software in our ML pipeline, performing design and code review
- Working across the model development lifecycle from data preparation to evaluation and deployment
- Working with data engineers to craft our data pipelines and systems
- Collaborating with application engineers and product managers as partners in your work
- Understanding complex and diverse data sets from a variety of sources
- Working with time-series, natural language, events, or structured code
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience on machine learning and predictive modeling projects
- Strong software development skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passionate about crafting and fostering good engineering practices and processes
- Ability to empathize with a diverse set of engineers
- Excited to invent new ways to understand code and developers
