Had many Steaks over the years, so far the best I must say came from Florida, from a Philly transplant, the name is "Big Al's Steak and Cheese". In Delray Florida. So yes I measure all others against them, and even with my hopes on high, sadly this place fell short. First was the fact they served me meat they already had cooked then reheated right in front of me :( I ordered mine with Mushrooms, after reheating my meat, she was told by the other workers she forgot my mushro...oms :( :( so she threw some raw mushrooms on top without cooking them in :( :( :( ya I said the same thing LOL. Then they rolled it in paper, so all the cheese whiz would stick to the paper, and not the meat :( :( :( :( and then the first taste, Nope not that good, as I was expecting at this point, the meat was over cooked, dry. And not a good cut of meat to start with. See Big Al's uses fresh cut ribeye steak, fresh cut right in front of you, then grilled in front of you. And if you want Onions or Mushrooms they are cut and added in front of you and cooked into the meat on the grill. The Meat at Pats is a pre cut low end cut and some pieces even seemed to be pressed, the bread was normal bread, had been made using bad tap water. And the bread had been left out to dry also before cooking. And had a stale taste to it. I really hope this was not the best Philly had to offer. Home of the Steaks. Someone please reinstall my faith in Philly for having the best steaks because as it stands with this place, I found better in Florida :'( . Also I should mention I ordered a "Triple Threat" which is the same thing I eat at Big Al's in Florida. That is a mix of 3 cheeses, American, Provolone and cheese whiz. At Big Al's when making your steak be grilled the cheese into the meat. At Pats they just put the cheese on top of the luke warm slightly reheated meat, after it is placed on the bread. So the cheeses like the American and Provolone don't melt, and just sit on top. Then they pour the whiz on top of that. :( :( :( :( :( Ya I too am pretty disappointed.
