The SNP will always work to make sure Scotland is a fairer society, a more confident nation and a more prosperous country. We believe that the decisions which affect Scotland should be made by the people who live and work here. That is why we believe independence is right for Scotland.

Fairer Scotland

The SNP want Scotland to be a fairer, more prosperous society. By making Scotland more equal, we will raise not only the life chances of this and the next generation, we will also enhance our economic prosperity. We reject the Westminster Government’s austerity agenda, and believe that these cuts are affecting the most vulnerable in society.

Economy

The SNP are committed to creating a wealthier, more successful Scotland. We want Scotland to flourish, with opportunities for all as part of a fairer economy. We have supported record levels of employment among young people and women, delivered a huge rise in apprenticeships and helped more parents back into work with a massive expansion in early learning and childcare.

Education

The SNP are committed to raising attainment for all and tackling educational inequality. We want our children to reach their full potential, for people to have the opportunity to go to university based on the ability to learn, not to pay, and for our education system to deliver excellence, aspiration and ambition.

Health

The National Health Service is our most cherished public service. The SNP will never waiver in our belief that it must remain a publicly funded service, free at the point of use. And, we will never stop trying to make Scotland’s NHS healthier. That is why we have committed a record £12 billion of health spending in 2015-2016. Public satisfaction with the NHS remains high in Scotland, and the number of frontline NHS staff has increased under the SNP to record levels.

Environment

Scotland has a wealth of natural resources which we will continue to harness and use. We have world-leading ambition on climate change and are encouraging other countries to match that ambition. Our Climate Justice Fund shows our commitment to helping those most affected by climate change.
