It's not just Donald Trump. Everyone's income tax bill should be public. Sunlight would curb tax avoidance, promote fairness -- maybe even boost economic growth. nyti.ms/2UxhQQ6

In October 1924, the federal government opened for public inspection the files that recorded the incomes of American taxpayers, and the amounts they had paid in taxes.
We should do that again.

No matter how positive of a development, like being the first person to take a photo of a black hole, YouTube's algorithm will reward the most extreme, almost universally negative version of any topic.

The people in DC who won't concede that it's real are also pursuing a strategy to profit from the disaster. Their paying job just happens to be denying that it's real.

70 percent of tax filers are eligible; only 3 percent use, at least in part because companies have no incentive to promote it or make it easy to use.

As for point 3, that is the price Democrats have obtained for preserving the current system. And voters can judge if they think it's a fair price.

I've reported, as have a number of other publications, that outside experts disagree with Sen. Wyden's assessment. In any event a) it could always be reversed by new legislation but b) that's not what they're doing now. Even Wyden acknowledges he's preserving the status quo.

The big win for Democrats is a program that funds tax preparation assistance for low-income taxpayers. It would be easier to just eliminate the process! This is like making people wear blindfolds and then providing guide dogs.

1. Intuit
2. H&R Block
3. Conservatives who want people to hate paying taxes.

This NYTimes editorial hits the nail on the head. Over 10% of salmonellosis cases in the U.S. are caused by pork. USDA should reform inspection to decrease illnesses, not increase industry profits. You Say Industry Can Regulate Itself? Prove It nyti.ms/2GgwylM
