Tech update:
- To organize a local event for GWTD you now can use your own o2 https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2016/10/07/new-team-o2s/. It’s a great place to discuss bigger items and stuff which should persist for a longer time.
- Javascript i18n post was published on make/core – https://make.wordpress.org/core/2016/10/10/javascript-internationalization/. The team would love some feedback from the Polyglots team and other local developers
-
Asia Pacific
- Thai (#th) is now at 100%. Chinese/China (#zh_CN) needs some more help (@kenshino/@robertsky will try reaching out to the Singaporean community).
- The REST API plugin & OAuth plugin need a string review for i18n readiness.
- They are not yet translatable on translate.wordpress.org
- Team o2s: please make use of them. You can post in your language. To translate the interface, go to the P2 “Breath” and o2 meta projects.
- Global WordPress Translation Day
-
@vachan added Mumbai local event (#hi_IN and #mr).
- We want to recruit more local event organizers, speakers, and co-hosts.
- Open discussion: @casiepa brought up a question of “When a plugin author wants to request a new PTE, should he set a very old thread to ‘unresolved’ or open a new one?” He said opening a new thread helps keep more accurate stats. @nao said leaving a comment on an old thread seems fine for now. No conclusion was established, but both agreed that a “service request” plugin solution would be a better process.

- Global WordPress Translation Day
-
@vertizio is interested in hosting the Dutch edition of GWTD #2.
- Sergey will work on a session about translating WordPress to Russian
- Petya is hoping to get more sessions like that for more languages – Hebrew, Serbian, Romanian, Thai, Vietnamese, Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi – anyone who would like to do one is welcome, please let us know
- More local events to be added to the spreadsheet in the upcoming weeks (Spain, Italy, Serbia, Romania, The Netherlands)
-
@petya asked everyone to post on their Rosetta sites about Global WordPress Translation Day no matter if they’re organising an event or not
