Australia - Australians lost nearly $300 million to scams in 2016
05/17/2017The number of people reporting scam activity in Australia was at record levels in 2016 according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s annual Targeting Scams report, with a 47 per cent increase in scam reports to the ACCC compared to 2015.
On 11 May 2017 the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) closed two formal proceedings against WhatsApp Inc, the California-based company, belonging to the Facebook Group, running the messenger service on mobile devices.
On 5 April 2017 the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) closed formal proceedings against five companies: Ticketone SpA, the company selling online tickets for shows and leisure events, and four companies operating in the online secondary ticketing market: Viagogo (based in Switzerland), Ticketbis (Spain), Mywayticket (Switzerland) and Seatwave (UK). The proceedings had been started in October 2016 for alleged unfair commercial practices.
