Kerem Shalom shuts down for the day, Rafah opens to allow pilgrims’ return
September 26, 2016. Kerem Shalom Crossing reopened Thursday after shutting down for one day following an attempt to breach the fence from the Palestinian side. Rafah Crossing opened for three days last week to allow pilgrims who travelled from Gaza to Mecca earlier in the month to return.
Rafah Crossing closes after operating for eight days
September 8, 2016. Rafah Crossing closed yesterday after operating for eight days, allowing passage of pilgrims traveling to Mecca and of people who meet the criteria for travel.
Back to school in Gaza
August 31, 2016. Sunday marked the beginning of the school year in the Gaza Strip. Around half a million students went back to some 700 schools. Many schools in Gaza run in two shifts due to the severe shortage in classrooms.
