The 2016 Louis Bachelier Prize is awarded to Damir Filipović for his contributions to stochastic modelling in finance and Insurance. Filipović holds the Swissquote Chair in Quantitative Finance at EPFL and a Swiss Finance Institute Senior Chair. He also acts as head of the Swiss Finance Institute @ EPFL. Filipović has made notable contributions to the study of interest rate models, the theory of affine processes and the design of regulation for insurance companies.

Christophe Ballif wins 2016 Becquerel Prize

CSEM and EPFL wish to congratulate Professor Christophe Ballif, the winner of the 2016 Becquerel Prize. This award was created by the European Commission to recognize outstanding contributions by an individual to the development of solar power. Winning one of the world’s two most prestigious awards in this field is a crowning achievement for Ballif, who has devoted 20 years to harnessing the sun’s energy.

The EDAA Lifetime Achievement Award 2016 has been awarded to Giovanni De Micheli, Director of the Institute of Electrical Engineering, and head of the Laboratory of Integrated Systems. The Award was presented at the plenary session of the 2016 DATE Conference, on March 15th in Dresden, Germany.

Four members of the School of Engineering are named IEEE Fellow

On the 1st January, 2016 three members of the Institute of Electrical Engineering on of the Institute of Microengineering were awarded the status of IEEE Fellow. This is the highest level of membership, and is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors in recognition of a high level of "demonstrated extraordinary accomplishment".
