Can't cast downloaded videos and no captions I don't like the fact that I have to delete my downloaded videos in order to stream them to my TV. It doesn't make any sense and it makes a movie marathon a pain to do. Please change this part of the casting feature. Also, captions no longer work and the button for it is gone. I wish it were easier to turn on and actually worked

Right now it sucks The whole point of being able to download a movie or television episode for offline viewing is to be able to, oh I don't know, VIEW IT!!! But instead more than half the time I have it says that the license that is supposed to be downloaded with the movie cannot be found, which kinda defeats the point of downloading the movie.

Great way to watch on web and Android Play Movies has continued to improve over the last year and it's now a great way to watch TV. Playback controls, binge mode, notifications of wish list items on sale and Android TV support are well done. The biggest problem is the lack of same day or next day shows.

Good but missing some features You would think Google would include robust search and filter capability in their apps, but it's a glaring omission in the play store apps. Why can't we filter by MPAA rating, or only display pricing for HD content for instance? Why are recommendations based on what was viewed (I don't always love a movie I rented) rather than what was rated favorably by me?
quixotic phantasms
Could use improvements I rented movies during CyberWeek for $0.99, $1.25 and $1.50 each, which was a great deal. If they cost that much all the time, I would rent far more frequently. ($4.99 or $5.99 for one rental is way too much.) However, the problem is that I was forced to watch them on the small screen of my phone. My Smart TV has no Google Play Movies app, and my WIFI wasn't fast enough to stream properly on my laptop, so instead I want to be able to DL movies on my account on the laptop, like I can on the phone. Thanks.

Promises so much, delivers so little Runs like a 3 legged dog. Throws me out more often than the wife. Would trust an amnesiac to remember my password more often than this *Utterly useless* app. Shame on the developer team, you must hate your employer's to ship this code.

Will not play a rented movie! I recently rented the movie "About Time" and I went to watch it using Chromecast and could not play. I got an error message saying it it was because it was downloaded on too many devices. I own three devices two tablets and a phone. The movie was only downloaded on one device and I am unable to watch it, while the 48 hour expiration time is now in effect. I will no longer rent any movies from Google, I expected better from google.
Show me exactly what's in my library. Don't show me all of the seasons and make hunt to find which episodes I have purchased. That is absolutely ridiculous! Binge feature does not work for tv shows. Why even have a check box in setting if it won't even try to advance to next episode? Streaming quality is horrible on gen 1 Chromecast. Talk about a short life cycle!
Its MY Movies and TV not Google play store Latest update has irritated me. For example I am watching south park greatest hits. Upon returning to the menu instead of just being able to pick a different episode it loads up series 20 of south park and tries to get me to buy it. This is supposed to be MY playlist not the store. I should not have to cycle through 20 series of south park in the drop down box to watch the one I own remove it ASAP. Like today please
I don't buy watch TV movies etc I don't read buy any movies and tv and i can't remove it from my phone and i can only restore the factory version of this app and every single Google app!! Why can't I completely remove these Google apps my phone days out phone storage memory now Witt all these Google apps I never use or buy any books movies and TV etc
No original audio This app seems pretty useless, if you are one who likes to watch movies with original audio. I know that language restrictions are set by content providers, not by Google. However, is it so hard to make some kind of an arrangement in this area? Even if I want to PAY for that feature, I just CAN'T! This problem exists in so many countries, that Google just have to do something about it. At this moment, torrent trackers provide much more versatility than Google Play.
..Terrible app, I cant even watch my movies. I own them and they are useless to me. When I go to uninstall the app it says the movies I paid for and own will also be deleted. Well Uninstalling it anyway and taking the loss to get rid of the terrible app. Wouldnt even give it 1 star if I could. A big 0 app if you ask me.
BRILL, but has just updated itself..Gone from 1 star to 4 star..Hopefully change to 5 stars or stay at 4!!.. Haven't tried it yet,as I don't want to pay for something and not get it! UPDATE-I rented 2 films and worked brilliant..... UPDATE-I am not happy as 13th December,I did not want to update straight away,so I left it as it was but today 23rd December-my phone has updated the last update!!!..I will let you know what its like soon,as I rented a film and only have a week left to watch it..HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅👼👼👼✌👋
Finally tried... Disappointed I like most of the Google apps. Having never tried renting a movie, I took advantage of a 99 cent offer. Very disappointing that there is no way to cast a movie, so it can be watched on my TV. Won't rent again.
Doesn't work I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Bought a Dell Venue 5050 to watch movies on. The only way I can watch movies is via WiFi since I only have room for 5-6 movies on my hard drive. Responeded as requested, never got a reply. Seriously thinking of uninstalling and considering all the money spent as a dead loss. Wish I had realized this before I'd bought a boatload of movies. The app doesn't even see my SD card. Going back to itunes, cumbersome but flexible.

Hi Linda, we'd love to help you directly with this. Visit: https://goo.gl/ujxdn6 and let us know we responded to your Play Store Review. We look forward to hearing from you! New system for picking TV shows is frustrating Why do you show me every single episode in the different seasons of the tv show? Just show me the episodes that I own, that way I don't have to sift through all those episodes I DON'T OWN to find the episode I want to watch
I can't rate any movies I purchase! Can't tell how many people have rated movies! Get rid of childish new icons! Chromecast won't connect to hotel Wi-Fi because there is no remote. This limits it's use in a big way. Also my family members can't use my Chromecast when I'm not around. For example the kids wake up early and want to watch Netflix. Well they can't because there is no remote. Amazon fire stick and Roku stick do connect to hotel Wi-Fi. I do like how the Google categories are broken down and the layout of the app though. Ashame there's no remote as this app is mostly useless without.
Poor Quality (Chromecast 2/2015) HD? Denied! The picture is far too soft and there are artifacts everywhere! Also, films stutter a lot. I'm running with 100Mbs fibre and the best WiFi Chromecast with run at. Google, increase the bit rate! I've paid for it! And on that note, films are often more expensive than Blu-Ray (physical media). So worse quality and more expensive... UPDATE: Chromecast Ultra... Same poor quality which also plagues the sound now. There appears to be NO wish to improve the service.
No reliability Repeatedly have streaming errors (app can't get license) that mean purchases are wasted. All the other features are meaningless if you can't reliably watch purchased content. This has been an issue for years, and still hasn't been fixed. Would expect better from Google, but should just stick with Amazon and others.
Great way to watch movies Frequent good deals, latest movies and a good collection of classics - the only problem is in apps on phone and TV and on the website, it offers no way to sort or group movies. As you get a larger collection with multiple franchise movies, this does become a problem. Otherwise great stuff.
Captions cannot be disabled on some shows The captions for the movie Twister cannot be disabled. I can only choose 1 of 2 languages, I cannot turn it off completely. Also, this show doesn't let me screen-rotate; it's fixed on the default rotation. Also, when saving position last stopped, it resumes from the beginning of the show.
Great but can't permanently delete stuff I love this app, however, google needs to implement an option to delete movies and tv shows permanently from our accounts, not just android devices. I've talked to two google reps, one of whom were not able to help me and preceded to ignore my questions. They gave me answers such as "clear your cache then your data", completely ignoring what i wanted done. A complete removal of chosen tv shows and movies should be allowed, not just hidden under our google accounts.
Terrible quality of movies. Might be ok for a small screen but on 100" projected screen it looks awful. Picture is generally fuzzy and the resolution is constantly changing which is very distracting. Play Netflix movies at 1080P through the same system and they look fine.
Terms of endearment Tried to rent twice using Chrome cast. CC worked fine. Movies never started, buffered continuously. Got charged on credit card $3.14 twice. Ended up renting on YouTube flawlessly. Would like refund of $6.28 on my card. Who handles that? Have used service once before with no problem.
Wtf Ive been having issues when i purchase a show and want to save it to my GOGGLE nexus 6P it tells me i have to be connected to a network. I am connected to a network so wtf is the problem. This has been happening a lot im able to watch you tube etc on the wifi network no problem
Cannot play downloads on chromecast Warning. Google movies doesn't allow you to cast downloaded content, you just get a very unhelpful error. Netflix much better! As someone who lives in an area with poor bandwidth that costs money to use pay per GB, I have to download content in order to use at a decent quality. So I wasted time and money on a movie and then couldn't find a way to get a refund as Google's instructions for it are wrong. Pretty fed up.
No option to only show purchase price The service is just like any other movie service. I find the ultraviolet service much more convenient, and has more stores to purchase from. Plus it has an option to convert existing disks to digital format for a nominal fee. I'd be much more likely to purchase from here if one-movies were listed with only the purchase price and not the clickbait rental price, which in itself is ridiculously overpriced, and two-movies purchased here showed up in my ultraviolet vault. Otherwise it's useless to me.
Don't bother. Had no issues with the app & really enjoyed being able to rent and watch movies in HD format once my phone was connected to my TV. I've now Uninstalled the app as it no longer has user reviews & google removed the useful links to ratings websites. Corporate greed rears it's hideous head again. I'll keep my cash & u can keep your service.
Worked great until... I linked my Disney Movies Anywhere account years ago. Now, with this most recent update, it doesn't show the majority of my DMA movies. When I go to the DMA app, it shows all my movies. When I try to download a movie that isn't listed, then I get "Can't find this in Play store" with an error code of 3. Latest update didn't help neither did my one hour phone call with Google. Getting really disappointed with this.

Hi Russell. Try clearing the app cache by going to Settings on your device, then Apps or Application Manager, Google Play Movies & TV, Storage, then tap “Clear Cache”. If that doesn’t help, contact us directly here: https://goo.gl/ujxdn6. Somethings broken I now only get stereo PCM on every Google Play movie I cast to my Chromecast Ultra, no more 5.1 Dolby Digital. EDIT. It appears it may take up to 5 minutes of playtime before the audio switches to multi channel PCM. No other streaming platform does it this way.
Dreadful support. Purchased HD movie but unable to watch in HD on my PC, despite my PC being in the 90th percentile and being more than capable of 1080 playback! Should be DLNA as not everyone is happy buying a chromecast when they already have a smart TV.
Can't play stored movies? Not sure if I'm just mega noob or not, but it doesn't play movies I've stored on internal storage - VERY annoying! It would be great if it had this feature also.
Purchase issue I purchased a movie through play store costing 250 Indian rupees. But 300 was deducted from my account. Please let me know the reason. Latetupdate:50 got credited back. Thank you.
Decent but not Netflix Binge watch feature doesn't work. Won't auto play next episode in library. Stability issues, crashes frequently in between TV episodes. Overall expensive service.
Google play movies and tv I've purchased several movies in the past and when I try to watch them most of the time I have trouble with them. They stop and start or have trouble with the sound or some other problems. I've stopped purchasing movies and just rent one occasionally. I would not recommend buying movies on this app TOO MUCH TROUBLE WITH IT!
Its Alright, Nice having movies on hand at all times for down time. But beware the bundle buys..Yes you get a decent deal but if they get removed from your device good luck trying to get them all back on to watch. Especially theatrical and extended cut bundles. Only seem to get whatever movie is sold a sold as a single entity on Google play back. Unless you uninstall and reinstall the app. A bit annoying
Dont like latest update I usually watch with my tablet plugged into the charger so it sits upside down. Since this last update I can't watch like that any more because it plays back video upside down. Ok found a cheeseball fix. I turn my tablet upside down then disable screen rotation from drop down menu. And yay! Screen plays rightside up. Still shouldnt have to do that though.
Minimal 5.1 surround options I don't understand why I would spend $20 for a movie and only receive stereo sound. This is the year 2017, right? I would love to purchase more movies on here but not for a subpar product.
Search results are annoying If I am making a search in an app designed for videos, it means I want to find videos, not apps, not books – not anything else!
Easy to use and works well, but let down by DRM and no Linux support. This application is great to look at (it's certainly much better than the default video players that are pre-installed by many manufacturers!) and seems to work well with plenty of content available... It does however, lose two stars because the service behind this application does not support Linux-based operating systems (such as Ubuntu); a further two stars are lost for the DRM (copyright) protection measures, and the inability to download DRM-free videos.
