Love the update (and finally a web version!), however would be nice if we can remove news because (1) we're not interested, (2) we're done reading or (3) the article is just too old (I'm seeing articles from 2013!). Right now, the only option we have is to "hide" articles from a specific provider (e.g. CNN/BBC) or "hide" an article regarding a specific topic. Would also love it if the news can be read to us (very useful as an alarm, or when we are driving...)

Terrible since last change I use to love this app for seeing news on topics I liked. With horizontal scrolling it was easier to bypass topics I didn't want to read at that time. Now the app scrolls vertical and you must see all of your topics and Google advertisement before going to a particular news feed. This is just like any other news feed app where before the interface was better and more user friendly.

Gone downhill I used to love this newsreader, but lately it's been forcing content into my lists that I do not desire and cannot remove. I spend more time scrolling to find news stories that interest me than actually reading the few articles that i can find. I can't block publishers from my feed. Sigh. This is my first Google app that I have uninstalled.

My goto news feed I love this app for curating a fantastic feed of news pieces. Only issue is that since they have reconfigured the app one needs top go and search for tech news or other specific heads. They have a good selection of feeds, including financial times and nyt. So many times I ended up taking ft here and not in the actual app- this is that good

Too much clutter. Simple design has been the Hallmark of Google's design ethos, untill now. Unlike the book app where I can get instant access to my library here I have to wade through layers of stuff I don't care about. Please let us set the experience we are wanting. I'd be happier if it would always open to my library of magazines.

Vastly improved with last update This app used to freeze often, but the latest update seems to have fixed that. The aesthetic improvements are excellent. The app is fast and responsive, well organized, and a great interface. I use this app daily. The app finally provides the long overdue option to block stories from the highly biased sources that the app editors seem to prefer. I was beginning to think that a better name for this app would be "Commentary Stand" rather than Newsstand.

Dropped to 1 star with latest version Used to be fantastic UI prior to the current version. I can no longer scroll to the right (horizontal tabs are gone) to read the news grouped by topic. Now you just have to scroll vertically which makes it very hard to read news categorized by topic or search term. The usability went from 5-star to 1-star. The new version is pretty but much less usable compared to the last version.

OK GOOGLE...Why did u disappoint us w/ ur latest update? The previous UI was terrific. I was pleasantly pleased with daily use. Now, the latest update is clean but it seems you've cleaned away the user experience. This update does not seem to be as easy on the eyes as previous versions. Please quickly fix this... pretty please. Ty!

Electronic magazines, who's idea was that? There are several features missing. Option to zoom or change how much of an article can be viewed at a time, new article/unread counter on subscription overview, custom adding links, integration with Google Now, better widget, compressed images for faster GSM/UMTS article download, more subscription sites, favourites list, dark theme and text size change option. Much better overview needed, and faster refresh rate. Also unending ads. And the new UI is terrible.

Why the UI Change Was a really good app which clearly allowed me to add sources and divide it into various tabs. It was clean and elegant with most topics available at a swipe. That's no longer the case. Everything gets bundled into this one list and now it's difficult to see as to which category it belongs to. Kindly revert, please. Thanks

Latest UI update makes it unusable Previous layout, though not perfect, was working for most. With the new update I get a clutter of news I am not interested in. After reading an article, it expands to show a link to the 'related' story, which usually is the same article on a different website. Has anyone done a simple usabiliy test before releasing the update?

Awful, unnecessary update The older app was elegantly designed and you could flow from one topic to another. This redesign unnecessarily adds a layer of interaction to move between topics and provides nothing in return in terms of additional functionality. Stupid update. Please revert to the old design.

Update makes it harder to use The previous version had its faults but it was easy to swipe between topics to quickly get a sense of what's going on. This new version makes that impossible so it's much slower to use. I know Google will argue that its machine learning is showing you what you need, but many people know what they want and just need a quick and ready way to get to it.

Too many PAID news sources, try NewsTab I used to give this app a five-star rating but since Google continues to force specific news sources into the general feed. These sources only allow you a very few reads per month before you need to pay a subscription. You are unable to remove these news sources so you have to remember what each one is as well as all the online ads they now push into the feed. NewsTab is my new go-to news app and what Google newsstand used to be. Sorry Google

Select news source and I get menu to move icon Google made the app unusable, short tap, long tap, touch and hold - same result. I have subscriptions that I could not get to because of this. A few days later they fixed it. No wonder there's a constant stream of updates. Did Google say sorry? No. No mention, keep quiet and hope no-one noticed. WE DID!!

Absolutely horrible! Another example of Google's inability to execute properly. The 4:3 screen aspect ratio for reading magazine is just outright stupid. Google if you don't know how to make a proper magazine reader, just try to copy Zinio. Besides, magazines are more expensive then other platforms.

Used to really like this app but the new update has made it much less simple to use. Previously each topic could be accessed by a simple swipe left or right to scroll through. Now you have to select one from the index then back out to index to choose another. The new digest is no help either as you effectively had that before by scrolling right and/or up and down through your topics, now you scroll down but can only see 3 headlines and have to click in to see more.headlines from that topic the click out again to go to another. I'd welcome anyone to try and convince me otherwise but the last iteration is a massive usability backward step.

Better and worse I don't mind the new layout, but the icons in the library tab are driving me crazy. Half the time when I press on any of them, it is bringing up the menu. Then if I press again, it sometimes brings them up for editing / moving. Found the best way is to touch on the title, not the actual image for each feed. As the icons have shrank, it seems very easy to hit the menu button on each. Apart from that annoyance, everything else is all good.

Can't block propagandists. I don't read news to get publisher's opinions. I already know the NY Times hates Trump, and Salon, which I've never heard of, (but for some reason dominates my news feed) likes to start articles with "our orange skinned president elect". Not to say i want to ignore the facts, i don't. I want to hear the facts. That's what news is. I'm switching over to yahoo news app. This is trash.

Horrible update Really dislike the new menu in the last update. Used to be able to swipe left and right to view all of my topics, now they are all mixed up on a single page with all news sites I subscribe to. I don't even bother to use Newstand anymore since last update.

Icons are not clickable Icons like business insider or forbes are not clickable. You eventually hit the right spot on the icon and it opens up. I dont think they test apps before being released cause this is obvious. This also happened after they had a new release.

Gatlinburg fire update by CNN Frightening images; heartbreaking for loss of lives et al. I grew up in shadow of the Smokies. Had dinner at one of popular restaurants just before leaving for new job here in Hagerstown, MD., at this time in 1965 as new grad nurse from UTMRC and Hospital. It will surely never be the same again!

The UI is beautiful and easy to navigate. This is a great app to keep up w/ the news you care about. The UI is beautiful and easy to navigate, W/O any unnecessary information. You can have just the news you want, and nothing else. Ignore all the negative reviews and give it a try; sometimes those "reviewers" have no idea what they are talking about or don't know how to get around things. This might become the only news app you need!

Don't like the new design, difficult to use I miss being able to choose which category I want to look at. Also, while scrolling down and looking at headlines, it will auto update me to the top again and I lose my place, having to search for an article I was about to click on several times. I also use this to READ news so it is frustrating clicking on a story just to find out there is only a video, no written content to go along with it if I am unable to listen at the moment.

Can no longer add RSS feeds as a source as I was able to do prior to 4.0. My existing feeds are still in there, but I can't add new ones. You used to be able to paste the feed URL into the search bar, but now it just returns search results for some of the URL text instead of an option to add it as a source.

Not a fan of new update I love this app but the new layout seems unnecessary. I loved having the "read now" section with my favorite topics ready to be swiped to, now to get to those topics I have to dig through explore, then select the topic before the relevant articles pop up, it's way less user friendly

For You?? The Briefing/Main Page forces new sources down your throat even though it is supposed to be based on your interests. I have never read a CNN or NPR or Huff Post article nor do I get my news from them yet I am constantly having to get past that stuff to get to my preferences. I'm going to give something else a try.

App ruined by clueless UI designers This used to be a go to news app, but the latest update had completely ruined the layout. Way too much 'we think you must know this' and recommended and sponsor garbage in the feed. It's completely unusable at this point. Thanks Google for letting clueless UI designers ruin this.

Pays no attention to what PAYING subscribers want... App NEVER downloads my PAID magazine subscriptions on time for airline flights, no matter how much time i have or how fast my connection is!!! No option to download on demand and WILL NOT DL in background? VERY unreliable! No copy/selectable text for notes or web searches. No zoom, no notes. No bookmarking, or clipping, and it always defaults to news articles that i dont want!! This app is horrible and designed only for content providers with no thought or consideration for its users. Please listen google!

A good selection but awkward category selections for magazines. Whilst this has a good selection of mags it doesn't have a good category filter. There are too many genre's under special interest category, and you can't filter on what only interests you. Also the Similar Recommendations at the bottom suggest zero relevance to what your original interest is in. Very rarely use it as can't be bothered looking through everything that doesn't interest me for finding what does.

"For you" content extremely annoying Used to love this app. Not anymore. I live in the UK and the "For you" content is filled with US related news regardless of how many times I reject them. Also it includes local content "Kent Online" that I cannot reject. This is an extremely painful app to use now. The curating function does not work at all.

I used to rely on this app but the latest version RUINED the offline experience. Can't find any way to force it download everything I want, so I end up looking at "this isn't available offline" a lot of the time. Also looking for another app that works better offline. Also it should be able to update the offline cache automatically (it doesn't)

Hate the new update New update has almost forced me to look for alternatives. No more left/right swipes to navigate news sections. One has to go through multiple levels of navigation to reach the same content. Bad UX, high redundancy, less control over content

Doesn't Update Thoroughly I use this and HTC's BlinkFeed as my main sources of news every day. It feels like I only see a handful of fresh articles through my day with this. Where BlinkFeed has several dozen every few hours. It's weird, and makes checking this seem worthless.

Gorgeous and useful Fanatic app. Only reason it's not getting 5/5 is that the app has no stopgaps preventing you from viewing publications that limit free viewing to a certain amount a month. I sometimes swipe through articles, and thus can't see what is coming next. This results in wasting a view on certain publications. A solution to this would be nice.

They broke it with the last update No longer can you swipe left or right to get to other topics, and it randomly refreshes and brings you back to the top of the page. I've sent comments directly to them but they have neither fixed the glitch or the features they took away.

Awesome app for news consumers 'Recommend fewer stories like' this option doesnt work AT ALL because i keep getting football news despite using the said option for it. Also, 95% of the news now is only about trump and demonetisation which is getting really tiresome

new update made it worse not only do you always get very one sided news but their newest update changed the layout and it crashes even more now. it crashed before but its much worse. i went and got a new news app because im sick of seeing the only articles you get being so biased...it seems very leftist...only articles to support clinton and bash trump for example. or itll just be completely irrelevent info or total misinformation. thats not journalism...your being paid to publish propaganda.

The new update is awful. I started using Newsstand because it let me control my news feed. There's a lot of useless news and this app helped me curating that content. Now is forcing me to see this "For you tab" with news that I don't care about. The "Recommend fewer stories about" is not helping either.
