I run a small web development company based in Houston, TX and am looking for an assistant/junior developer to help me with everyday tasks and take on some of my development work load. We have a full time designer and an HTML/CSS expert on the team apart from me, and are looking to add another developer to the mix.
The applicant must be able to work remotely and be available on text/WhatsApp and email during business hours (9am-5pm CST) – we’re flexible on availability if the candidate is right.
Examples of the kind of work you’ll be involved in, on a day to day basis:
– Making small text/image edits for client websites that we manage. These are mostly running on WordPress.
– Create custom WordPress themes from PSDs or HTML/CSS, whatever you prefer.
– Analyzing websites for SEO issues, providing “quotes” or estimates on how much time certain changes/features may take.
– Bug fixes on themes.
You can bill me per hour for most of the tasks. For larger projects, like complete themes, we can decide a fixed rate amount.
The candidate must have
– Very good knoweledge of the WordPress codex.
– Strong backend and frontend development skills.
– Good problem solving and communication skills.
We do not have time for much hand holding so being proactive with client requirements and figuring out requirements will be part of the job.
