Citigroup may shut some India branches

Citigroup Inc. plans to shut five of its 44 branches in India as more customers perform banking transactions via its digital platforms, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The lender may focus on larger cities and wealthier clients but doesn’t plan to reduce staff strength and will redeploy employees affected by the closures, it said.
