New stuff coming out of +Purism Computers's Librem 5 and KDE's Plasma Mobile camp: Plasma Mobile working on an i.MX 6 based test development board.

This is the board Purism and Plasma Mobile developers may use (not confirmed yet) before the Librem 5 phone actually exists.

October is here, which can only mean one thing: a new version of Kubuntu is knocking on our door.

Kubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) ships with Plasma 5.10.5 and the 17.04.3 bugfix release of KDE Applications.

A refreshed Plasma experience on Kubuntu will let users group applications in the Task Manager, and it brings better support for vertical panels, Folder View as the default desktop mode, a new System Settings module for customizing Plymouth splash screens, media controls on the lock screen, and much more.

See it in action: https://youtu.be/unPuBIsPLTQ

Instead of Plasma Discover, users of Kubuntu 17.10 will be able to install and update packages with Muon as the alternative package manager. KTorrent has been updated to version 5.1, and Cantata is the new default music player in Kubuntu.

Kubuntu 17.10 comes with Linux kernel 4.13, LibreOffice 5.4, and Python 3.6. Wayland is also included by default. This version of Kubuntu will be supported for 9 months, until July 2018. Download the live images or upgrade your existing system, and let us know how you like Plasma 5.10.5!
