To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hey I think it would be better if you told us a little about yourself and your posts instead of just posting a link. More bloggers get attracted to such comments. For the record, your blog was a good read!

First time blogger, I hope to disucss with colleagues and others the issues around email overload, productuvty, Google apps mixed in with the occasional rant over things like the recent Evernote price hike (still not got over that!).       3. Thanks awh. I remember when I was a new blogger. I was so so scared of everyone and everything here, it was ridiculous. People who commented and liked my posts really made me feel better, and I love to return that feeling:)

    1. The header on your blog is great…love the image! Your blog is visually appealing.

      The first thing I usually look for on new blogs is to see whether the blogger has written an ‘about’ page. I had a hard time finding the menu, but when I did find it I noticed that you have a default ‘about’ page. Change that – write a little about yourself and the blog.:)

  27. Hi Everyone. New to the blogging community. Please give me as much feedback as possible. I want to do this and I want to do it well!! I am currently starting a Youtube page also, which will essentially be adventure/travel based videos. My blog is essentially a collection of thoughts but I do hope to create a theme/connection around all my social media pages, which will essential become diary/vlogging pages : Instagram/twitter : @utopiczone.

    1. I enjoyed reading your posts. You have a lot of wisdom. I do have two pieces of feedback though. First of all I believe it is the title of the posts that draws people to read them. I don’t think using numbers as the title will bring you as many followers/readers as if you picked a title that reflected your subject manner. Second, I suggest you make writing your “About” page a priority. I was intrigued by your posts and went to the “About” page to learn more about of you. I know whenever I go to a blog that is new to me, that page is one of the first I look for.

  30. Hi, I’m Rachel. I started blogging over the past month. I’m really concerned about infringing on copyright when using images that don’t belong to me on my posts. Does anyone have advice? So far I’ve been sticking to taking my own photos and using public domain photos. But on some of my posts on Pinterest projects it would be really great to be able to show the original pin that inspired me. Do I need to contact the image owners for permission?

      Creative Commons is a great source of images, and using the Creative Commons website, you can search for images on Google/Flickr/Wikimedia that you have permission to use. There are also sites with beautiful, free images like http://unsplash.com.

      If there’s a specific photo you want to use and you’re not sure if you have permission, then yes, you best bet is to contact the person who took the photo and ask! Lots of folks are happy to have their images shared, as long as you attribute them by linking back to the original.
