    Also, there is a clear difference between needing and wanting. When you say “need”, please have data/facts/reasoning ready. And especially if the “need” trickled down to you from above. If you didn’t bother figuring out why it’s a requirement, don’t expect me to do your job.

    From I learned to ask what problem people are trying to solve when asking me for X. From real life I learned that this transforms any problem into "me not not doing my fucking job of giving them X when they need it", even when they can't really explain why they do.
