Dr. William Welsh and Dr. Jerome Orosz, professors of astronomy at San Diego State, along with Dr. Stephen Kane, an associate professor of astrophysics at San Francisco State, were among the researchers who discovered a new planet, Kepler-1647 b, with astronomers at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. Announced yesterday, Kepler-1647 b is the largest planet to orbit two suns simultaneously ever discovered. The research has been accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal.
