12-14 September, 2016
In this three-day, intimate (limited to 500 participants), single-track conference, Mozilla brings together the most visionary speakers and companies to explore new frontiers in the open web, from both technical and design perspectives, across platforms and devices. And when the day’s done, we’ll relax with fun (optional) group activities.
It’s a great opportunity to network with likeminded people in a collaborative, inclusive environment.
View Source features 16 world-class speakers (plus discussions and Q&A breakouts), exposing best practices and new technologies. Check out our keynote speakers below, see the full schedule.
Hadley Beeman is a data architect and government technology advisor. She focuses on building the future: both through code and technical standards, and through government policy. She co-chairs the W3C Data on the Web working group, making the Web's content machine-readable. She has been appointed to the W3C Technical Architecture Group by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, where she advises on the future architecture of the World Wide Web. She has also just finished serving as Digital and Technology Advisor to the UK Cabinet Office and spent two years prior with the UK Government Digital Service.
In her spare time, she and a few friends founded 300 Seconds, an initiative to help digital women gain experience in public speaking.
Web browsers have become so powerful that developers are now treating them as if they were a runtime environment as predictable as any other. But the truth is that we still need to deal with many unknown factors that torpedo our assumptions. The web is where Postel’s Law meets Murphy’s Law, so we can’t treat web development as if it were just another flavour of software. Instead we must work with the grain of the web.
Read more about JeremyOver the past few years, several CSS methodologies and JavaScript frameworks have been released. In one year, we receive 32,120 business emails. Every weekday, we're active on Slack for 2 hours 15 minutes. Technology is moving fast, and constantly, there's so much going on. We constantly have to adapt in an ever-changing environment, while somehow still doing our job of building proper, functioning software to the latest tight-super-unrealistic deadline.
This talk will look at the human side of our daily work in technology. Together, we will examine which factors affect us physically and emotionally in our work. We'll learn how they lead to pressure, stress, self-consciousness and ultimately burnout, and we'll find out how to identify early warning signs of being affected. You'll leave with a realistic look at your own, human capabilities, and the knowledge of what you can do to take care of yourself while working on software.

It includes Service Workers, Push and more, but also for future APIs and possibilities like Payments, Credential Management, Web Bluetooth and such. Let's take a bird's-eye view on the web platform with new features, how it fits in and relates to native mobile platforms, and where it's going and how to make sure it stays relevant.

Founded in 1998, Mozilla is best known for the Firefox browser, used by hundreds of millions of Internet citizens globally, across various devices and platforms.
As a non-profit, Mozilla works to empower all Internet consumers to also be producers, equipping them with tools, platforms, documentation, community and other resources.
