Habits 1 of 3 - I just finished the most amazing gym, swim, and steam session. I feel so alive! After I finished, a friend asked a question about habits which inspired this 3 part Instagram post. BTW, I write what I share in social media 1st to teach myself along my journey, 2nd so my 3 sons may one day find a path to learning what I have easier, and 3rd so at least one person out there might grow to become the best version of themselves. Habits are a big deal and they all start with knowing thyself. Only you know what negative habits you need to remove and which positive ones you need to add. Over the last year I toned down my gym habits a bit and jumped into a learning journey in all subjects. I had a really humbling last few years which drove my curious nature to hunger for learning in all ways. I believe humility is how we return to the curiosity of a child and that pre age 6 stage where we learn like a sponge unlocking the higher frequency of love over fear's limiting lower frequency. I needed this last stage and now that I am past that chapter in my personal evolution I have realized a balance of positive habits for mind, body, and soul are where I function at my best, hence getting back into the gym 3 weeks ago. To start, the 21 days to create or break a habit concept is not very accurate scientificaly based on studies. Easy habits can start around 20 days but more difficult can take a year or longer. The factor that determines time is based on whether soul or Ego drives your choices. Do you have that inner passionate voice and grit to accelerate life change or not? Soul, and other topics on my insta posts or in the link to my LinkedIn blog in my bio (under "articles") to better understand how to grow beyond limits, but my goal today is to give 3 simple positive habits that will change your life and can be adopted by anyone is less than 20 days.
Habits 2 of 3 - The first easy to activate positive habit is to pray for what you are grateful for each morning when you wake up and each night when you go to sleep. Start with the little things which really are so big. Thank God for allowing you to see, breathe, taste, touch, hear, speak, smell, and feel. Then thank God for all of the people you love and all of the good things in your life. These next parts are the game changers. I want you to think of the toughest people and situations from your past and present and thank God for them. Thank God for how much they have helped you to grow as a person and feel love for them. We hear all about facing our fears, forgiveness, and loving our enemies, but who is telling us what to do after we face them and how to forgive or how to love our enemies? This is all about habit and I believe the gratitude prayer morning and night is THE habit we ALL need. At first it may feel off to be thankful for trials and tough people, but eventually if you stick to it...it will change you. Each morning when you wake up and each night before you go to sleep repeat these prayers of gratitude. I had so much pain in my past that used to own me, now my scars and my "tests" are my "testimony" for the healing power of gratitude which truly is faith of the unseen manifested in the seen world. Gratitude is how we heal our past so we can open the gift of the present moment which unlocks our true creative ability in both professional and personal settings as well as peace of mind, body, and soul. It takes time to learn to fly but eventually if you have the grit to make it a habit you will soar to new limits.
Habits 3 of 3 - These next two habits that you can easily implement are very interrelated. The first is to pause any time you get a strong emotional feeling and breathe. This is for BOTH positive AND negative emotions. When we learn to pause, breathe deep, and treat our emotions as a gauge it helps us to make better decisions. By delaying our choices, we begin to have more control over our lives in the present moment which is the only time in the Space-time continuum we are built to control in this stage of our evolution. By responding to all strong emotions instead of reacting, you begin to get outside of fear driving your life and allow love/wisdom/truth to take over. As you begin to learn to play the role of the 3rd person watcher in the room, not controlled by emotions, your life will break past limits. You will also find more long term universal truths related to other people and situations instead of falling to short term choices that only benefit you. Gratitude unlocks your past and the "emotion gauge pause" frees you to win more in your present, but the last habit is the key to the future. Trust! We get so locked into worrying about a future that we don't control. Focus on what you want (never what you don't), but any time you feel anxiety or fear about future, close your eyes, and tell God, "I Trust you to control all outcomes. My only job is to manage this moment." Adding Gratitude prayer gives away past...and by Trusting...you give away future...so as you learn to manage your emotional gauge in the present moment life will change for great (good is the tool of the status quo and enemy of great) unveiling the limitless life you always dreamed of. 3 simple habits which will change your life if you make them habit.
