Ayodeji Richard Makun, AY, is a multi-talented, multiple award-winning Standup comedian, and arguably, one of the most successful comic acts of his generation. The first male child from a family of Seven, AY hails from Ifon in Ondo State, Nigeria but was born and bred in Delta State. He gained fame through mimicking popular Pastor, Rev. Chris Okotie big vocabularies and amusing interjections in his comedy jabs and cracks. In 2006, the same year AY began as professional Standup Comedian, he was decorated as the Best Up-Coming Comedian in Nigeria, courtesy: National Comedy Awards. That wasnt AY first ever honours. As an undergraduate of Delta State University, Abraka (Delta State Nigeria) AY got numerous honours including: The Most Fashionable Student on Campus (1999 and 2000); The Most Celebrated Student on Campus (2001), Best Showbiz Promoter (2001), Jaycee Club Socio-Cultural Personality Award (2003), and The Most Celebrated Theatre Arts Student (2003). After spending nine tough years on Campus, AY graduated, 2003, with a BSC in Theatre Arts from Delta State University, and he refused to leave school until he set a yet-to-be- broken record of being the only undergraduate to direct a Convocation Production in the history of the Theatre Arts Department of the University. Upon graduation, AY was invited to Lagos by Nigeria King of Comedy, Alibaba, with whom he worked, first, as Personal Assistanta, and then, as Event Manager for two years. Although he began his Stand Up career with a very humble and unassuming start, AY, parlayed his success as an excellent Event Manager in his Alibaba years into a career, not only in Stand-up comedy but also in acting, directing, writing, and TV production. AY is hysterical, topical, and noticeably creative. In less than five years, he introduced a wide vocabulary of Stand-up comedy techniques as the creator and producer of the crowd-pulling Comedy and Music Concerts : AY Live; the award winning weekly TV series :The AY Show; the talent-discovering Challenge : AY Open Mic Challenge; the side-splitting short films : AY Comedy Skits; and the Comedy & Style Quarterly : AY Magazine. AY had sold out Muson Centre in Lagos in 2007; The Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Hotel, Abuja in 2009; the Indigo O2 Arena, London in 2010; ThisDay Dome Abuja in 2011, and the New Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, also in 2011. AY creative skills, Show-promoting expertise, and witty proficiency have won him numerous Awards, recognitions, endorsements, and ambassadorships. The recent Award being The Comedian of the Year 2011, courtesy City People Entertainment Awards. The Award came after he had a very successful 2010 taking AY Live for the first time to the United Kingdom. The Award is AY second consecutive by the same organizers, and AY eleventh since 2008 as Comedian of The Year. A United Nations Youth Ambassador of Peace, and the Chief Executive Officer of Corporate World Entertainment Limited, AY, is renowned throughout Nigeria and Africa as a celebrity of note whose ability and experience as a Comedian, Compere, and Showbiz Promoter has acquired a meaning in the minds of the public as a comedian loved and followed by the Family. AY is married to Mabel Makun, a gorgeous down-to-earth jewel from Delta State, and bringing happiness and good fortune to their union is a bubbly endearing daughter : Michelle Makun.
