A private citizen? Do you know him from?
Open discussion is when we all know we are talking to people with rights and also responsibilities. Not when one is a hidding bully who can abuse everyone because he is not known.

Who are you that l should listen to? Atleast l must know the person giving unsolicited advice. How can l dialogue with a hidden character but with known agenda.
Other bullies come clean and identify themselves, you are the only bully that is also timid.

Revisit your economic history. Check the impact of all that especially from 2005-2008. Also check how that was resolved and how and when the economy stabilized and recorded growth.

The battle is in the mind. Not time for too much analysis & reasoning.
I don't understand where the division or so called polarisation comes from when everyone is suffering.
Time for workers to decide what they want most their political parties or good lives for their families

I understand the main challenge has been the attempt at weakening the law on strikes which was a topical issue some years back. But SA still remain better than others.
This is what most other countries have done weakening labour laws & expose workers to the caprices of capitalism

For SA , atleast the labour laws & court judgements are better than other jurisdictions. The labour law jurisprudence is based more on the constitution & in such an environment there is not much the Exec could do for the five months for parties could & were approaching courts.

The other further complication is the emergence of a local bourgeoisie class which brings its on complications. Most of these capitalists are also policy makers.
They also have their own forms of capture & cartels.
This makes it difficult for labour to push for progressive laws.

Politics is a battle of interests and where there are powerful forces and at times global forces the battle is not as smooth as intended.
Capture & the hegemony of social & economic policies such as neo-liberalism is difficult to fight against, but the struggle must continue

How on earth can we say that when history is full of workers struggles that culminated into successful liberation struggles?
Our history or SA history if the role of labour is properly acknowledged does invalidate that view.
Politics took workers somewhere, struggle continue

For as long as we do not have self determination and ability to wiggle out of the state capture & the new & subtle form of neo- colonialism based on unfair globalisation and trade, we will continue to see all African political parties ditching the workers for foreign interests.

State capture is the major problem. Most states and institutions are captured by foreign intrests eg the hegemonic Bretton Woods institutions and their economic policy experiments like ESAP, Austerity,
So most states need to be liberated from this capture.

The originator of the discussion is clearly celebrating.
You and me are discussing the extent of the problem.
So chill , and we discuss the matter.
My argument is States must see industrial relations and CB as engines for development that must be protected.

The parties are not equal , the other is powerful with listings on NYSE , JSE etc , while the others are poor sons and daughters of Africa.
It is the duty of the state to protect its citizens by rejecting the neo-liberal policies that enrich others countries at our expense .

Unfortunately industrial relations is closely linked to our development or lack of it. So African Governments must ensure that collective bargaining (CB) is made functional with protection for workers.
C B plays a big role in reducing poverty, inequality & underdevelopment

Celebrating neo-liberalism is not different from celebrating neo-imperialism. Africa is still firmly in the hands of foreign multinational corporations like these mines. If unions do not redistribute wealth from wealthy shareholders to workers our development is impaired.

I thought you knew that every struggle has its pains but that doesn't make the oppressors right.
What was the cost of our liberation struggle, does freedom come easily? The greatest loser is South Africa, not unions or workers only. More profits to foreign shareholders.
