Renewable energy for Google’s operations
Since 2010, we've been working to purchase renewable energy for our operations around the globe. To date, we’ve signed 20 agreements totaling more than 2.6 GW of renewable energy. And we plan to keep adding more over time as we grow.
We will achieve 100% renewable energy for our operations in 2017.
Google is the world’s largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy. We’ve signed 20 agreements totaling 2.6 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy—generating emissions savings equivalent to taking more than 1.2 million cars off the road.
To date, our purchasing commitments will result in infrastructure investments of more than $3.5 billion globally, about two-thirds of that in the United States.
