Creating Apps & Ad Units
To target ads to your application, add the application of interest into the MoPub dashboard. From your Inventory tab, click the ‘Add a New App’ button.

-
Platform: Select the OS you wish your application to target (iOS, Android, or Mobile Web).
-
App Name: Enter the name of your application. This application name is what our Marketplace partners will see when your app makes an ad request.
-
Icon: Click ‘Choose File’ to upload an image. If you’re adding an iOS app, enter and search for your application name. If it exists in the App Store, the icon will populate automatically.
-
Enter the iTunes URL (iOS), or Package name (Android), or URL (Mobile Web) for your application:

Although the dashboard does not explicitly require a package name, an Android application will always have a package name.
It is strongly recommended that you enter an iTunes URL/package name when creating an app, because this allows the app to be uniquely identified in the Marketplace. The iTunes URL/package name is the “global application ID.” This global AID allows DSPs to uniquely identify and target popular apps in the marketplace (resulting in higher CPMs).
-
Select a Category: Choose a primary and secondary category for your application that will allow Marketplace partners to bid and target your application accordingly.
Congratulations! You’ve added an application to the MoPub Dashboard. You’re now ready to create an ad unit.
Your application will require one or more ad units in order to show ads. From your Inventory tab, start with adding an application to the dashboard.
Select your platform choice in the Device Format section and select Ad format type. You can learn more about ad formats here. Next, provide a reference name to the particular Ad Unit ID.

Note: Fullscreen ad units default to portrait mode. After selecting Fullscreen as the Format, you can change the layout to landscape mode if you prefer.
If you select a Native ad format, you will be able to specify the positions of your ads with native location control.
Input the desired refresh Interval if available for your desired ad format. We recommend 30 seconds for increased CTR.
By default, the number of impressions per user is unlimited. You can limit the number of ads that can be shown per user session with Frequency Caps by checking the box and designating the maximum number of impressions to show.
Once you have completed all of the required fields, click ‘Save & View Code Integration’ at the bottom right.
