As a kid, if I hated a book, I would rewrite the ending or offending scene to my liking. (I am such a dork, I know.) Then I realized that I could write original books of my own. Mind = blown!

Toni Morison has a great quote that explains on this:

“The villains were always ugly in books and movies. Necessarily so, it seemed. Because if they were attractive—if their looks matched their charm and their cunning—they wouldn't only be dangerous.

They would be irresistible.”
Nenia Campbell, Horrorscape

“Once upon a time, there was a naïve and innocent girl who thought she could tame the beast and live happily ever after. But the beast did not want to be tamed, for he was a beast and beasts care not for such things, and the girl died along with her dreams.

From childhood's grave sprang a young woman, jaded before her years, who knew that beasts could wear the skins of men, and that evil could exist in sunlight, as well as darkness.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.”
Nenia Campbell, Terrorscape

“Happiness is such a fragile thing, isn't it? So easily burst, like a bubble blown by a child, and always on the verge of being carried away.”
Nenia Campbell, Endgame

“It starts so young, and I'm angry about that. The garbage we're taught. About love, about what's "romantic." Look at so many of the so-called romantic figures in books and movies. Do we ever stop and think how many of them would cause serious and drastic unhappiness after The End? Why are sick and dangerous personality types so often shown a passionate and tragic and something to be longed for when those are the very ones you should run for your life from? Think about it. Heathcliff. Romeo. Don Juan. Jay Gatsby. Rochester. Mr. Darcy. From the rigid control freak in The Sound of Music to all the bad boys some woman goes running to the airport to catch in the last minute of every romantic comedy. She should let him leave. Your time is so valuable, and look at these guys--depressive and moody and violent and immature and self-centered. And what about the big daddy of them all, Prince Charming? What was his secret life? We dont know anything about him, other then he looks good and comes to the rescue.”

thank you so much for accepting. And right back at ya: you seem to be supernice too :D

And while I'm at it, I hope we get to talk about lots of awesome books in 2017!

edge of bubble I love that too! especially if they are rage/rave reviews. a couple of yours killed me with logic tough! it was like the bug spray and my feelies the little buggies. boom.

edge of bubble thank you for accepting my request!

it's a different kind of fun to talk to someone who didn't enjoy a book you really liked. and vice versa. I am happy to find another HR fan, can't wait to raid your shelves to broaden my horizons =p

Mary ~Ravager of Tomes~ Haha I know I was like omg she just followed me! But you're right Friendship > Following! :D I do believe I've seen your name floating around on my feed a few times anyway so this is perfect lol. & I don't blame you at all I am usually less active during week myself.

Very nice to meet you! I'm sure we'll have lots of bookish things to chat about! Plus I can't wait to see what you think of Off to be the Wizard once you're finished! :'D

Erin ☕ *Proud Book Hoarder* Oh yes, they have their charm for sure.

Calypso Hello Nenia! Thanks for accepting my friend request! :) IT is currently giving me minnie heart attacks but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've read Carrie when I was 12 and reread it a few weeks ago. I also read Four Past Midnight and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon some years ago and they still haunt me to this day, haha! My favourite would be Carrie though... What other King books have you read? I am planning to read more of him after I finish IT and would welcome recommendations :D

P.S. I found your books in Smashwords and am definitely buying it!

Vanessa Hey there! 20+ souls are floating in the outer cyber space, will I ever meet them again? who knows why does goodreads hate me so much lmao

message 862: by Tara

Tara Nenia, you write with such intelligence, I had no idea you were so young. Great books and awesome reviews, my friend!

message 861: by Jenny

Jenny Well, after reading your books, it makes sense that you love thrillers! ;)
I love HR too, but I've read books from only few authors. Lol you got it right :P I read almost anything with romance in it. I occasionally read mystery/horror, but most of the time I'm reading fantasy and YA :)

message 860: by Jenny

Jenny Haha, that's totally me! ;D Yup, it's Science-fiction. It's my first book by the author. His books always seemed very serious so I was hesitant in picking it up, but I'm really liking so far. Even if nothing is making sense :P I haven't read many of his books either, so really can't recommend or say much about them :) You read a lot of HR, right? I've seen many reviews of yours!

message 859: by Jenny

Jenny Hi Nenia! :) Thanks for accepting my friend request, I always get nervous whenever I send a friend request to an author :P I'm reading The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner and also started More Than This by Patrick Ness :)

Christine Wallflower & Dark Romance Junkie Nenia wrote: "I see you're getting into regency romances! OMG <3 That's so exciting!"

Yes I am lol!! I'm particularly fond of dukes and scottish lairds :P I think it was The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley that got me going!

message 857: by Aileene

Aileene I do. I do, indeed.
Thanks for accepting :)

Destini Mia~ ♕ Sassy Lassie That happens to me ALL THE TIME. My feedback ratio is pretty cringe-worthy because of it, too *wears cone of shame*

Destini Mia~ ♕ Sassy Lassie Hi, Nenia! Thank you so much for accepting my friend request :) I am on NetGalley but I suck horribly at keeping it up with. I always forget to check to see if any books on my shelf are available for request *sigh* I really have to get better about that

message 854: by Vaneesha

Vaneesha OH MY! One of my favourite authors of all-time is Greg Iles, his books are in the realm of psychological thrillers/suspense. I've noticed he doesn't have very good reviews on goodreads, but I really love his books, I've been reading them for YEARS. Blood Memory and Third Degree are my favourite stand-alone stories by him, but I also really love the Penn Cage series. I also recently read Kulti and The Wall of Winnipeg by Marianna Zapata and THEY STOLE MY HEART!

message 853: by Vaneesha

Vaneesha Hi Nenia, thank you for your comment! I am totally loving the IMA series, I just started book 3 and to be honest I've kind of given myself a bit of a headache with staring at a computer screen for so long. Makes me appreciate the amount of effort writers put into their books. I will be sure to let you know how I like the books you've favourited as soon as I make it through all the books you've written!! I just joined the romance group as well! This should be exciting! Thank you once again!

Heather *live on coffee & flowers* Thanks, Nens! We're visiting my sister-in-law, and Kristin happens to live 5 minutes away from her. Woohoo! ;)

message 851: by Vanessa

Vanessa Nenia, thank you for having accepted my friend request! In the last few days I read The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, that was absolutely awesome, and Z: a novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowley, an interesting and fascinating novel :)

Casey ~Kaleidoscopic Killer of the Deep~ Thank you for accepting my request! I know as an author there are all of these careful etiquette rules to be considered in public forums so I get why you don't send them but I'm glad you accept them : )
I was following you so I see all of your updates and we both comment on so many other people's reviews and statues that I didn't even realize we weren't already friends. I'm really excited to get into some of the buddy reads with the romance group. Hopefully I can get caught up on a few things and join the May read.
