Blog Notes

Receive Blog Posts by Email and Newsletter Subscriptions

A little bit back, I changed the service that sends out my monthly newsletter and blog posts to those of you who subscribe to receive them by email.

If you want to get blog posts sent to you via email, to your Inbox, you can enter your email address here: Email Sign Up.

To get my newsletter, which comes out at the beginning of each month, you can sign up here: Newsletter Sign Up.

-You’re also welcome to use the sign up forms in the right sidebar.

-Note that these are opt-in subscriptions and you’ll receive an email that you need to respond to in order to confirm your subscription. At the bottom of each blog post that is emailed, and each newsletter, there is an easy way to unsubscribe if you change your mind. (Although I hate to see you go!)

-If you don’t get a confirmation email or don’t get the posts or newsletter, check your spam folder as some providers put “bulk” emails in there automatically. (Yahoo, Comcast and AOL seem to be especially good at doing that.) You can also add <davidlebovitz.com> to your “Safe” list if your email program has filtering options, like Gmail does.

-Email addresses aren’t used for other purposes nor are they shared: You will only receive newsletters, blog posts, and messages from me.

Print Option for Recipes

There have been a number of comments in previous posts asking about a print option for recipes here. I’ve installed the plug-in so that feature will be available shortly, but all of the recipes (culled from 1829 posts, going back to 1999) need to be reformatted and coded, and I have to learn how to use it. (I’ll admit I’m a better baker and cook than a computer technician.) I have someone working with me on the print option, although it’s going to take us a while to get it working correctly. You can read more here for some options to save or print recipes in the meantime. Thanks for your patience!

Recipe Archives

I’ve been updating some recipes from the archives on the blog and will be bringing a few of them up to the top as I’ve updated the recipe and photos. There will still be new content (recipes and stories) but I’ll be popping a few of the updated recipes on the blog, here and there.

Social Media

You can also keep in touch with me on social media, including my Facebook page, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat.

Never miss a post!

It is easy to print just the recipe by doing a screen shot on your computer:
Command shift 4 on a Mac. Grab the recipe and print Reply

I’m confused. I got this post via email. Do I need to re-subscribe to continue getting them? I didn’t notice a change. Reply

Nope. You’re all set. My previous service dropped a number of people (which is why I dropped them!) but if you’re getting it fine, there’s no need to do anything. Thanks for subscribing! Reply

Thank you, David for yet another terrific recipe. Basil is just one of the wonderful things to love about summer! Have you any idea when your newest cookbook is coming out? I have all of your others & they are my favorite cookbooks. Reply

For those who have been have been stymied in the attempt to print recipes from this wonderful site, I have found another option. (If it has been described previously, please forgive me.)

One simply highlights the recipe and left clicks on “Translate with Bing”. The result is a “translation” into English which is completely available for changes in font and format when highlighted and copied into Word as a Word document.

In the past, I have used the “Email with Windows Live” function to do the same thing; but that doesn’t seem to work any more. Reply

David there is a wonderful print option at http://www.printfriendly.com. It allows the reader to omit the photos if desired which with my blog is necessary because of the large number of photos I use. Reply

Hi Tim: I usually announce them in my newsletter. But there is a link on my Tours page, here on the website, where you can get in touch with the administrator to put your name on the waiting list. Since we have a list of people interested, we’re often full right away. Reply

I made you spiced apple cake, absolutely awesome. Now a friend wants one for her birthday cake, only chocolate. Would adding 2-3 T raw cocoa powder to the recipe be okay, or do I need to add some chopped chocolate?
Love your recipes and blog. Makes people think I”m a really super cook when I use your recipes! Reply

Am glad you like the recipe. Without trying it, I can’t say for sure or how much to add, but generally you would swap out some cocoa powder for some of the flour in a recipe and/or add some chocolate. Or you could just make the recipe as it is and glaze it with chocolate icing : ) Reply
