Hi, I have general question: if I will ship new version with some new or updated translations included with the theme, will the WP.org repository be updated with those translations automatically at: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/tiny-framework
Thank you!
Hi Tomas, as far as I know, only the very first time there is a conversion of existing po/mo towards GlotPress. Whatever you change to your local files afterwards will not be reflected centrally. By default a shipped mo/po within a plugin/theme has priority over the central one. But why still update local files if GlotPress can do it? 🙂
I have several problems with Glotpress.
1. I have to assign Editor for that language as I cannot approve Waiting strings globally (only for the languages where I was assigned as Editor). So for that I have to invite current translators to apply for the Editor and I’m not if all of them will sign up, but this one is not the main one.
2. Most important – it looks that Glotpress just scans source for the translations strings, but my theme uses some of the strings that may be commented out or not in the source of the Parent theme (it may be in child themes and I include them with Parent theme to make it simple and efficient). So, I don’t know how to add to GlotPRess additional strings that are not present currently. I hope GlotPress would scan latest POT file, but I’m not sure how it works as current translations on WP.org are missing those strings, so I assume POT file was not used to generate the list.
Thank you for your help!

Good afternoon (or morning or night) polyglots;
@bottapress previously did the #fr_FR translations for https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/ using po/mo files, so can he be granted PTE-rights here for
Merci bien,
frank
Hi Frank,
For any French GTE request you should follow this post: https://fr.wordpress.org/2015/12/18/how-french-community-handles-pte-requests/
Thanks
Merci @fxbernard, I’ll look into this.
OK, I’ve updated #fr_FR translations for autoptimize as contributor (mostly based on strings in MO/PO files as provided by @bottapress earlier). Would be great if someone could check/ validate/ provide feedback!
Merci à vous,
frank
Thanks Frank, all is now reviewed. For feedback you should join the French Slack Community. I don’t want to explain here all the modifications I did.
Cya there.
I’m there already, silently looking on; @futtta 🙂
Bom dia Polyglots, the 5.4 development branch for WordPress for Android has been frozen. That means it’s time to translate new strings before the release! There are 21 new app strings and a few lines of release notes to translate.
Hello Polyglots!
I am the plugin author for Peter’s Login Redirect. I’ve like to start adding editors to be able to approve translations for my plugin. Please add the following WordPress.org users as translation editors for their respective locales:
If you have any questions, just comment here. Thank you!
Hi @pkthree,
When you need to add more editors to the above plugin, leave a reply here using the same template as above (#locale – @username).
Thank you!
As @eckhard-henkel already is a Project Translation Editor for another translation of a plugin into German, I assume he already knows our Glossary and Translation Style Guide. Would you please remind him, that we try to keep translations consistent. Thank you.
I just added him as a PTE for your plugin. Best regards, Bego (@pixolin)
Thanks!
Bego, thanks for the hints!
Greetings, Polyglots.
I am one of the plugin authors for YIKES Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce https://wordpress.org/plugins/yikes-inc-easy-custom-woocommerce-product-tabs/ and Easy Forms for MailChimp https://wordpress.org/plugins/yikes-inc-easy-mailchimp-extender/
Could you please add our Russian translator as an editor for both plugins:
And our French and Spanish translators to YIKES Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce

Hi Tracy, for French PTE requests please read this post: https://fr.wordpress.org/2015/12/18/how-french-community-handles-pte-requests/
Thanks
Hello. Thank you for that info. Mia is a GTE so I think she already qualifies?
I’m sorry, I didn’t realize GTEs automatically had permissions for all plugins. You can ignore the FR and ES requests.

We started filling out data about locale status during the releases to get a history of how things progressed as far back as we can. To give a hand with filling out the data, please ask for access to the spreadsheet.

Coming later this day: When a plugin releases a new version all translations will be copied from dev to stable. |
Let’s create a list of questions to add to the FAQ section of the handbook:
Thank you to everyone who participated! Please leave comments if you have anything else to add to the notes.

Strings for WPiOS 6.2
Hey folks, we’re shipping WPiOS 6.2 late next week and we could use some help translating the release notes and the app strings. If you’ve got some spare time, we’d appreciate any help towards getting those strings translated.
Thank you!
Hiya polyglots!
I’m the maintainer/ developer 3 plugins, could the following PTE’s be added;
for https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/:
for https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-youtube-lyte/
for https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-donottrack/
thanks!
frank
Hello Frank, according to our German Guidelines we already asked @presskopp to start with the translation and keep in touch with editors via the Slack channel for the German community. Best regards, Bego (@pixolin)
Great, vielen Dank! 🙂
@futtta, you have been added as PTE for Autoptimize and WP Youtube Lyte for #nl_NL.
If you have any questions about translating to Dutch, please join the Dutch polyglots on the Dutch Slack. You can sign up here: https://wpnl.slack.com/signup.
Please keep in mind the Glossary for Dutch when checking translations.
WP DoNotTrack isn’t on translate.wordpress.org right now, so I could not add that one.
Bedankt @chantalc, this can be marked as resolved in that case.
Hi, I’m the gte for catalan language.
I have a problem on assigning permissions to user @xyulex.
User shows me at administration panel as a translation editor, but user only can suggest translations.
Only with this user has problems. Is it possible?

We have a number of great translation editors that we’d like to be able to approve translation for our plugin(s). Please add the following WordPress.org users as translation editors for their respective locales:
Hi there, for a French PTE request you should read this post: https://fr.wordpress.org/2015/12/18/how-french-community-handles-pte-requests/
ok j’arrive ^^
Hello Polyglots
Please set my personal account as PTE for our Penguin Theme (https://wordpress.org/themes/penguin/). Thanks!
Done for #de_CH too, but I can’t edit the message
Hi Ulrich, you can just klick the checkbox, which will automatically add your profile name.
Hi Bego, I am unable to check the checkbox. I must be missing some type of access.
