    The word imperialism has become void of its intended meaning. Imperialism =/= intervention. Cuba was not imperialist for going into Angola. Hizballah is not imperialist for going into Syria. Keep playing around with this word & watch a Democrat use it in a 2020 debate.

    Saudi wants to use Hariri to pressure Hizbullah by threatening to lift its Sunni cover but it has emasculated him to such an extent that he may no longer be much of a leader to Sunnis & hence a cover for Hizb. The more he toes Saudi line, the less useful he is to Hizb & to Saudi

    Shame on AUB for this & for penalizing peaceful protests by revoking scholarships of 12 grad students who now can't afford to study there. I feel so privileged to teach at the only non-corporate uni, our public Lebanese Uni which is open to all classes, Lebanese & refugees alike

    Nasrallah laid out bottom line for negotiations with Hariri: Hizb hasn't & won't send weapons to Houthis, but political support for Houthis will continue as evidenced by his emotional speech on Yemen & his call for lifting taboo of condemning Saudi aggression against Yemen 1/2

    Saudi seems to be demanding that Hizbullah end all support for Houthis in exchange for Hariri. Hizb could give Hariri assurances that it won't militarily intervene in Yemen, but pledge to end political support for Houthis is highly unlikely. Recall Nasrallah’s March 2016 speech:

    The only other card Saudi has is security destabilization, but that too will be futile given that nobody will dare to take up arms against Hizbullah. Aside from terrorist attacks & Lebanese remittances, Saudi has little leverage. It can hurt Lebanon but it wont achieve its goals

    What Saudis & Americans can't grasp is nature of Hizb's alliances. In 2006 Nasrallah thanked Aoun for alone standing by resistance during July War, pledging Hizb would be "indebted" 2 him "until Afterlife". Aoun won't sell out Hizb & Lebanon or allow Christians to be Saudi tools

    Saudi’s end game is to use Hariri to weaken Houthis by weakening Hizbullah by weakening Aoun. Absurdity is it assumes any one of these can or will change the policies of the other. Next stage is to couple abduction of Hariri & family with extortion of Aoun using economic card
