Aleppo

Aleppo (Arabic: حلب ['ħalab], Turkish: Halep, Greek: Αλέππο, other names) is a city in northern Syria. It has about 2.2 million inhabitants. It is the largest city in Syria. Aleppo is the capital of the Aleppo Governorate. Since 2012 it has been a battlefield in the Syrian civil war.
There was a large earthquake near Aleppo in 1138.
