The reason behind the US vote against was that the resolution puts too many restrictions on Free Speech.
Ironic coming from a regime that just a few months ago was discussing changes to the 1st Amendment (Reince Priebus, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, 4/30/17).
Equally ironic coming from a country in which some states are enacting laws to discourage protesting such as those that punish organizers if protesters, even ones proven to not be associated with their organization, become violent or destructive.
It was a global stand against Nazism, not a referendum on free speech, but as usual, this administration twists everything to insupport of its agenda.
