In theory, the #US is the more natural ally for #Europe: The two have cooperated closely since the end of World War II, building the multilateral institutions which are now under threat. And yet, Donald #Trump's slipshod approach to trade diplomacy risks pushing the #EU into the arms of China. The EU's main strategic interest in this fight is to ensure that the multilateral trading framework - including the World Trade Organization - survives. At the moment, this concern is most shared by Beijing, not Washington.

There Are Major World Trade Changes Underway
East-West trade routes traditionally account for approximately 40 percent of total container shipping volumes, however it has been suggested that the situation could look much different by 2015. It is forecast that at that time, 32 percent of volume would be intra-Asian trade, 9 percent would be Middle East and Africa to Asia; and 5 percent would be between Latin America and Asia.
To accommodate and benefit from the forecast growth potential, the economy of the GCC countries continues to diversify and make meaningful improvements with approximately US$3 trillion worth of port and infrastructure projects currently underway.
