United States of America - The End is Nigh
It is not so much that the United States is going to disappear any time soon as a major global economic or political influence, it is more about becoming an IRRELEVANT COUNTRY on the global stage as everyone else RISES or MOVES ON. Other countries are going to keep picking up the slack, possibly learning from the mistakes of the US/Trump. Other countries will continue to divest from American ties, American dependence and American influence. Sort of like the way everyone starts to move away from the loud, obnoxious and arrogant drunk at the party. Although Trump's catastrophic political, financial and business failure seems inevitable now as the Mueller investigation continues to close in, he will no doubt leave behind a legacy. I only wonder how, or if, the United States will recover any of its moral authority on the global stage after the Trumpocalypse is over. I know the heart and soul of the MAJORITY (60%) is there, but will they speak up, vote and change the direction, change the reputation, of their country? Time will tell I suppose, but I am optimistic. :)
"Foreign leaders have begun to reshape alliances, bypassing and diminishing the United States."
"In almost every region of the world, the administration has already left a mark, by blunder, inattention, miscomprehension, or willfulness. Trump’s first official visit abroad began in Saudi Arabia—a bizarre choice, when compared with established democratic allies—where he and his senior advisers offered unreserved praise for a kingdom that has close relations with the United States but has also been the heartland of Islamist fanaticism since well before 9/11. The president full-throatedly took its side in a dispute with Qatar, apparently ignorant of the vast American air base in the latter country. He has seemed unaware that he is feeding an inchoate but violent conflict between the Gulf kingdoms and a countervailing coalition of Iran, Russia, Syria, Hezbollah, and even Turkey—which now plans to deploy as many as 3,000 troops to Qatar, at its first base in the Arab world since the collapse of the Ottoman empire at the end of World War I."

Donald Trump is basically the leader of a cult. In that sense, he's not unlike David Koresh, Charles Manson, Marshall Applewhite, or Jim Jones. And his league of followers, yes-men, and Republican enablers are no different than sheep being led to the slaughter. His minions will do anything he says. Kool Aid can't be far behind.

A Philosopher Explains Trump's 'Post-Truth' Era
"How did we get to this place where the American president is able to lie so shamelessly and so casually without any tangible political consequences?"
"In May, the Washington Post created a tally of Trump’s false or misleading claims. The number they found was 3,001, which averages out to roughly six lies or half-lies each day in office. That number has climbed to nine per day in recent months."
"For some, this is a sign that we’re living in a “post-truth” world — a place where shared, objective standards for truth have disappeared. Trump seems to pay no political price for his lying, and the news cycle is dominated by references to “fake news” and “alternative facts.” Some of this panic is overstated, but some of it feels justified."
"So what the hell is going on? Does the phrase “post-truth” make any sense? Has something really changed? To get some answers, I reached out to Simon Blackburn, a philosophy professor at Cambridge University and the author of On Truth. We talked about what’s misleading about the phrase “post-truth,” and why the real problem may stem from a lack of trust."

Donald #Trump and the #Republicans want to talk about his impeachment and removal from office. #Democrats would really rather not. For Democratic leaders, impeachment is the manoeuvre that dare not speak its name. While they have not issued formal instructions to the rank and file, this week #NancyPelosi, the House minority leader, declared it was 'not a priority' and published a letter urging members to “stay focused on delivering our strong economic message” and 'cleaning up corruption to make Washington work'.
Democrats fear they could be accused of overreach, that pushing for impeachment now would backfire in November’s midterm elections, just when they seem poised to retake the House. It might turn out to be the magic elixir that fires up Republicans wary of an attempt to overturn the result of the 2016 presidential poll.
