OpenDrive
Shared publicly -A Diskless Workstation or Diskless Terminal is a computer with no disk drives that relies on network booting of operating systems and network storage and access for files.
These were developed as early as the 70's to make it easier for people who work in certain fields to use a computer without having to juggle disks, punch cards or other media. Everything is contained within the network, accessible through your login credentials.
These workstations became somewhat of a joke among IT personnel in the late 90's and early 2000's when CD's and DVD's were expected to be the longstanding preference for storage media for years to come. Like with all good ideas, however, we have come full circle, and now in the modern age, cloud storage is fulfilling that diskless role, along with tablets and mobile devices.
Eventually the good idea did prevail and cloud services like OpenDrive have helped us return to a simpler and easier way of managing both our personal and business files, without the need for costly servers and workstations, and also without taking up all that space, now having the ability to manage everything with a device small enough to fit into your pocket.
