It’s been a slow cooker kind of week…
Split pea soup
Finished soup
Ten medium onions, sliced.
Put em in the crockpot (The cheap one that doesn’t have a rubber gasket to seal in the moisture)
I also threw on some bay leaves and pepper and a splash of red wine and vinegar.
Cook the onions on high all day long.
Mixed up some beef broth, 5 cups worth, added it in, let it cook for another half hour or so.
Bought some stale French bread at the store, and some fancy Gruyere cheese.
Put a baking sheet in the oven. Put the bowl on a baking sheet in the oven. Put the soup in the bowl on a baking sheet in an oven. Put the bread on the soup in the bowl on a baking sheet in an oven. Put the cheese on the bread on the soup in the bowl on a baking sheet in an oven. Put the whole mess on a bump on a log in a hole in the bottom of the sea and turn on the broiler.
Broil for 10 minutes or so, until the cheese looks fantastic.
Eat.

Three-wheeler dog doesn’t like it, but the fuzzy one seems to.

Tonight’s Drink
2 parts bourbon
1 part fernet (this local kind I get that is like condensed Christmas cookies)
And then a squirt of some thick, syrupy fig balsamic vinegar.
And no, you can’t have any. This is mine.
