SwimTeam lets you compete against virtual opponents

Humans love a good ol' competition, especially when it results in a rigorous workout. A research team at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology recognizes this and came up with a new game that lets swimmers compete with players in other pools. Their app, which they call SwimTeam, pairs a swimmer up with two other people to either have them work together as a team or pit them against one another. If in team mode, the app encourages swimmers to keep up with their teammates, and if in competition mode, it tells them how well they're doing in comparison. In addition to the app, swimmers need an underwater phone case and underwater ear buds. SwimTeam was just a prototype, however, so it's not clear whether it'll ever reach IRL swimmers' hands.
