New Fallout Pip-Boy replica is a $350 ‘smartwatch' for phone calls and text messages
Remember last E3, how Bethesda announced a real-life Pip-Boy? And remember how it was essentially a crummy smartphone shell? Well, this E3 Bethesda has revealed a new Pip-Boy and this one looks maybe — just maybe — like it’s the Pip-Boy Fallout fans wanted all along.
Unlike the old version, the Pip-Boy Deluxe Bluetooth Edition has "an integrated screen and its own on-board software and hardware." The gadget pairs to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth, and allows wearers to take calls, view...

The 5 best game trailers from Bethesda’s E3 2016 press event
Bethesda has become one of the most important players at the annual E3 video game conference, despite only having hosted a major press event for two years. Last year, the company aired trailers for Doom, Dishonored 2, and Fallout 4. This year, Bethesda sought to outdo itself, revealing first trailers for Prey and Quake Champions, along with footage from upcoming Fallout 4 DLC and a remastered Skyrim.
Here are some of our favorite trailers from Bethesda's E3 2016 press conference. Check out...

Fallout Shelter quests are coming in July along with a PC version
Last year, Bethesda surprised everyone at E3 by both announcing and then immediately releasing Fallout Shelter, its first mobile game. And it was a huge hit, with more than 50 million players as well as its own upcoming pseudo-adaptation for Fallout 4.
Tonight, Bethesda announced update 1.6 for Fallout Shelter, which will include Quests (with a capital 'Q') with new characters, enemies, and locations.
Quests will arrive in July, as will Fallout Shelter for PC — good for those that have...

Virtual reality Fallout 4 is coming to HTC Vive in 2017
Bethesda Softworks is releasing last year's Fallout 4 for the HTC Vive virtual reality headset in 2017. The company made the surprise announcement at its E3 keynote, and we know almost nothing besides that — but for lots of people, that's probably enough. This will make Fallout 4 the first big open-world game to get an official, studio-released virtual reality mode.
This is going to take some adaptation. Things like Fallout 4's conversation interface — which is just text overlaid on the...

Fallout 4 will get Nuka World, Contraptions, and Vaultec Workshops DLC this summer
"Contraptions Workshop" and "Vaultec Workshop" will be the next pieces of downloadable content for Fallout 4. Footage of the DLC was shown at Bethesda’s E3 2016 press event. The former will arrive next week, while the latter hits in July. Those seemingly smaller downloadable updates will lead to "Nuka World" in August, which looks to be more akin to last month's Far Harbor DLC.
These will be the fourth, fifth, and sixth pieces of DLC, following up "Automatron," "Wasteland Workshop," and...

Skyrim remastered is launching in October for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4
Nearly five years after it first came out, Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim continues to have a very impressive fan base that keeps the game pretty through HD mods. Now it's Bethesda's turn: tonight at its E3 press conference, the company has announced a remastered version of Skyrim coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Judging from the footage just released — jump to 3:18 if you want to skip all the new Fallout— Skyrim Special Edition has been improved dramatically for the new...

Titanfall 2’s grappling hook fixes my biggest problem with the original
I have no shame telling you that I was never great at Titanfall, the 2014 competitive multiplayer shooter in which humans and colossal machines scrimmaged on the same battlefield. Following a brief demo of Titanfall 2, I’m more optimistic about my odds — and the odds of folks like me — in the sequel. I credit the grappling hook.
In the original, newcomers to the genre could succeed easily as one of the titular titans, robotic craft the size of a deli, loaded with enough missiles to dispatch...

The 6 best game trailers from EA’s E3 2016 press event
After years of holding its press event on Mondays between Sony and Microsoft, Electronic Arts decided to kick off E3 by holding the first event of the week. So What did we get? Among others, EA released new footage and details for Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, and Mass Effect: Andromeda, while additionally offering some vague promises for a lot of Star Wars games at some point in the future.

How do you sell violent games after a tragedy? Pretend like it didn't happen
Mere hours after the worst shooting in the history of the United States, video game publisher Electronic Arts hosted a press conference in downtown Los Angeles. For the leadership taking the stage, it may have been any other day.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson performed a generic monologue about the growing number of gamers across the world, before introducing a series of developers, presenting their wares.
Perhaps EA executives thought it would be hypocritical to comment on a real-life shooting...

New Battlefield 1 gameplay trailer: horses, biplanes, airships, tanks, and motorcycles
At the publisher’s E3 press conference, Electronic Arts showed a new trailer for World War One first-person shooter Battlefield 1. Purported to be in-game footage, the new footage showed a variety of combat scenarios involving (among others) blimps, biplanes, motorcycles, horses, and tanks. It also showed some of the "unpredictable" dynamic weather (e.g. heavy fog, rain), which will reportedly alter how a multiplayer level is played.
Last month, the first Battlefield 1 trailer received an...

EA's Star Wars hype video teases X-Wing game for PlayStation VR
There are a lot more Star Wars games on the way from Electronic Arts. Star Wars has become a major part of EA's portfolio of games since the company signed multi-year licensing deal with Lucasfilm in 2013, and the video above provides some insight into what we can expect over the next few years — and it includes virtual reality.
Last year the publisher released a rebooted — and very successful — version of Star Wars Battlefront from Battlefield studio DICE, and a sequel is due out next year....

Microsoft’s new Xbox One S revealed in leaked images
In less than 24 hours, Microsoft will host its E3 press conference. The software maker is expected to launch a smaller, slimmer version of the Xbox One, and a fresh leak on the NeoGAF forums today is providing our first look at the new console. Sources familiar with Microsoft's Xbox plans had previously told us that the new Xbox One "Slim" would be 40 percent smaller, and the leaked image appears to show a smaller Xbox One in white.
Alongside the image of the console, some specifications are...

Titanfall 2 trailer provides first look at single-player story
Titanfall 2’s E3 preview appeared online earlier this morning. Now, publisher Electronic Arts has uploaded the full trailer. The footage highlights the game’s new single-player mode, which will focus on the relationship between pilots and Titans, the mech-like crafts that battle their way through the sci-fi shooter. Here's how EA describes the set-up:
In single player, Titanfall 2 will deliver a crafted experience that explores the unique bond between man and machine. Playable offline, the...

How to watch Bethesda’s E3 2016 press event
It's crazy to think that this is only Bethesda Software's second big E3 press conference — especially after last year's inaugrual keynote with Fallout 4 and Doom in 2015. For this year, we expect them to talk about both of those games, with the first of three Doom add-ons scheduled for this summer and more Fallout 4 expansions in the works.
We're also expecting Bethesda to talk about digital card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends, which was initially announced at last year's E3, pushed back,...

A new Xbox console and 5 other things to expect from Microsoft at E3 2016
Remember E3 2006? Ten years ago, Microsoft shared its roadmap for the still young Xbox 360 with a list of big-name titles, including the first Gears of War, Crackdown, and Forza Motorsport 2.
The Xbox 360 era was very good for Microsoft. Now that it's the underdog to Sony's massively successful PlayStation 4, the company is looking at ways to close the gap and expand the Xbox platform. That includes new hardware, new big-name games... and yes, perhaps a new Gears of War, new Crackdown,...

7 things to expect at Sony’s big E3 press conference Monday
E3 2016 will likely be a victory lap for Sony. As of last month, the video game console maker had sold over 40 million PlayStation 4s. Analysts estimate the consoles outsells its competitor, Microsoft's Xbox One, by two-to-one. Sony has dominated with few big-name exclusives — that's about to change.
The company will seek to further extend its lead this year with a more powerful console, a virtual reality headset, and a considerable number of first-party games. Sony's E3 2016 press...
