Once you have a basic understanding of markup languages like HTML and CSS, you can move into computer programming. JavaScript is a high-level programming language used to find and interact with HTML or CSS in a web page or website. JavaScript is often referred to as the language of the web.
With a Front-End Web Developer Nanodegree, you learn JavaScript fundamentals and how the language interacts with other programming and markup languages to create interactive and dynamic websites. You can use JavaScript to locate markup languages so it can change the HTML, change the CSS, hide the HTML, or show the HTML in a website or application. JavaScript is also used to fetch information and execute based on a trigger defined in the script. With this degree, you discover how JavaScript is cross-platform and widely supported by most browsers, lightweight, and designed for creating network-centric applications. Your newfound knowledge of markup languages like HTML and CSS and the programming language of JavaScript can give you a strong foundation to build and design interactive, user-friendly websites or applications.
