IPNI statistics

Getting good statistics out of IPNI is currently difficult due to limitations of the data.

However, from 2004 onwards we are reasonably confident that we can publish useful figures on the number of new names published, and the number of new names added to the database

Note that it takes time for names which have been published to appear in IPNI, especially if they were published in obscure journals. Therefore the figures for names published in a year should be considered provisional until at least two years have passed. We will try to keep these figures updated on a quarterly basis so that as names are included in IPNI these figures will be revised upwards.
