Trump's illegal recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital has given Israel the green light to accelerate its theft of Palestinian land and ethnic cleansing of whole Palestinian communities, especially in occupied Jerusalem.

Ahed Tamimi, a 16-year-old Palestinian girl from a village in the occupied West Bank, was dragged out of her bed and home by the Israeli military in the middle of the night, and has been detained in an Israeli prison for over a week. Her mother Nariman was also arrested when she went to check-in on her detained daughter. Ahed's 21-year-old cousin Nour has also been arrested during a raid on her home. They must all be released, immediately.
Ahed was arrested after a video of h...er resisting Israeli soldiers who were trespassing on her home went viral. She was trying to make the soldiers leave. Less than half an hour earlier, an Israeli soldier had shot her 14-year-old cousin in the face.

Ahed is far from alone. Each year, Israel imprisons 100s of Palestinian children like her in its military court system, and subjects them to violence and abuse.
“Israel’s military occupation is in contrast to all that is just and humane, from the abuse of our children to the abuse of our land. As parents, we try to shelter our children against the occupation and all its violence, inequality, and lack of freedom, but there is only so much we can do to protect them.”
It’s well past time for the world to demand and place a military embargo on Israel similar to that imposed on apartheid South Africa. #BDS
We mourn the passing of Laloo Isu Chiba, a leading South African activist who dedicated his life to defeating the brutality of both South African and Israeli apartheid. The apartheid regime in South Africa had sentenced him to 18 years in prison, but they could not break him or his comrades. He emerged to see the apartheid government fall in South Africa, and to actively support our BDS movement for Palestinian rights.
Having directly suffered the ravages of apartheid in Sou...th Africa, Laloo Chiba was compelled to act to end it when, like so many fellow South Africans, he recognized it’s dehumanizing, repressive boot in Israel.
He did not live to see the brutality of Israeli apartheid end for Palestinians, to see the system which discriminates against an indigenous people based on their ethnicity and religion fall in Israel.
It remains with all of us to realize our common vision for freedom, justice and equality.

GOOD NEWS: The prestigious Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium has announced its withdrawal from LAW TRAIN, a research project funded by the European Union and slammed by human rights groups for cooperating with the notorious Israeli police and exchanging prisoner interrogation methods with them. Torture is routine in Israeli jails.
Last year, the Portuguese Ministry of Justice responded to human rights concerns by withdrawing from LAW TRAIN.
The campaign to stop LAW TRAIN continues in Belgium and across Europe, with civil society demanding that the EU respect its own human rights laws and ban collaboration with Israeli military and security companies.

Palestinians have been injured and killed in the streets and in airstrikes for protesting Trump's illegal Jerusalem decision. A decision which gives Israel the green light to steal more Palestinian land and evict more indigenous Palestinian families from their homes in occupied Jerusalem.
But you cannot crush... a people's aspirations for freedom, justice and equality.
Let’s make this a turning point. Now is the time to redouble our boycott and divestment efforts, to urge our institutions to end their complicity in Israeli crimes, to insist on a military embargo against Israel as was done against apartheid South Africa.
Together we can, and shall, build a movement that ends Israeli apartheid once and for all.

Abdulrahman, like all 2 million Palestinians living under what is often described as "the world's largest open air prison", has little access to electricity.
